Overview:
Like its legacy predecessors, the F/A-18F Super Hornet is an all-weather carrier-capable multirole fighter. With the retirement of the F-14 Tomcat in 2006, the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet was developed to replace the failed A-12 Avenger II program, which itself as intended as a replacement for the retired A-6 Intruder. Along with it's primary duty of carrying out strike missions, the twin seat F/A-18F can take up roles originally filled by the retired F-14 Tomcat, A-6 Intruder, and KA-6D; as well as supplementing other aircraft still in service, such as the S-3 Viking.

Because it is to be the main aircraft of the United States Naval Air Arm, the F/A-18F Super Hornet is an extremely well balanced aircraft, capable of performing any mission it is given. It incorporates good agility, advanced avionic systems, stealth features and the capability of carrying various armament and maintainability into a single solid aircraft design.

I wish Namco had done the Super Hornet justice...The stats for the standard F/A-18F in AC6 just do not reflect the real life capabilities of this airframe. It disappoints me...

mmmm.... i think namco put the stats in comparation with the ultimate craft.
Think about the EF-2000E on AC3. have lame stats because is comparate with the XR-900 Geopelia.
So, the F/A-18F suppose have that stats in comparation with the CFA-44

If AC3 were somewhat more realistic, you'd have an improved version of the AC5 Typhoon as your starting craft and, like, stop and hover or turn 180 degrees on a dime with the Geopelia. I'm getting lightheaded thinking about it.

So the F/A-18I and U would probably be somewhere in the middle...

The F/A-18F Super Hornet is the best plane in Ace Combat 6. Hands down. They gave it an upgrade! The AIM-7 Sparrow.

The AIM-7 is being phased out for the AIM-120 as it's a better missle.

Well....

In my opinion, the F-22A Raptor is the best dogfighter in the game cool.gif; but the Super Hornet is still a decent aircraft.

I just think the Super Hornet is much more maneuverable in real life than in AC6. And faster, too. But don't get me wrong. This is one of my favorite planes online. The SAAMs on this guy are one of my main ploys. And, if you're good, you can mix it up in non-standoff engagements as well. It's a good plane to fly, but I'm just saying that its stats ought to be better.

Amen to that. I agree with Jake's thought. The Super Hornet is much better and faster in reality.
On another note, I think this aircraft is awesome. One of my most favourite aircraft of all.Love its performance chart; capabilities, etc.

I believe the stats are justified, if you look at the specs the hornet weighs slightly more than an Eagle but with less engine thrust. Granted instantaneous turn capability would be great thanks to FBW and LERX but with less thrust than an eagle, sustained turn rates and maneuvering in the vertical would be another thing.
Also there are some other deficiencies that need to be addressed.

Hopefully as the airframe matures those deficiencies would be solved, already in the works is a better version of the current engine producing almost as much thrust as the engines in the F-15 that should allow the Super Hornet to survive if they ever go up against upgraded Flanker variants.

I agree somewhat. The Super Hornet is not perfect, but it is MUCH better than AC6's stats imply. Leaps and bounds better. It has its deficiencies, but it's still a pretty good plane.

Me too, pal. There really wasn't any excuse not to give the 'Rhino' an LASM or LAGM.

True, true. Aren't the LAGM and LASM merged in AC6?

Well they're both presented as separate weapons; even though they technically do the same thing.

fun fact:

The super hornet's wing pylons stick out at 5' because when boeing designed the plane, the computer models were saying that if they dropped a bomb from the wings, it would come up and hit the aircraft at certain subsonic speeds. So because the super hornet program was in danger of being cut at the time, they just made the pylons stick out at a weird angle, which is a quick fix but messes up the aerodynamics a lot.

especially because they really only use those things for drop tanks anyways.

that's a lot of drag tongue.gif
