PATRICK JAMES "PJ" BECKETT
AC0 - Crow Three/Galm Two

(PJ's F-16C Fighting Falcon)

Personal information:
Name: Patrick James "PJ" Beckett
Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Call Sign: Crow 3 / Galm 2
Nationality: Osean
Age: 22
Sex: Male
Date of Birth: ??/??/1973
Status: MIA

Biography:
PJ was a mercenary fighter pilot hired by Ustio in the opening days of the Belkan War. A member of the 4th Air Force Unit, his early life and career are a mystery until Operation: Judgement when he assisted the Galm Team in destroying the Belkan chemical laser cannon, Excalibur. His longtime girlfriend, who he said he was going to propose to after Operation: Point Blank, is never identified.

He joined the Ustio 6th Air Division, 66th Air Force Unit after Pixy disappeared during Operation: Ravage. He looked up to Cipher a lot, and whenever he spoke of him there was a touch of reverence in his voice. The young pilot always chose to fly his beloved F-16C, emblazoned with the Crow Team image on the middle of the left-side fuselage. PJ's ideals were simple - he fought for peace. No matter how much blood he shed, he believed he could stop the fighting. His ideals though, often clashed with Pixy several times during the campaign.

On December 31st, 1995; Patrick Beckett was shot down when Pixy returned in his ADFX-02 Morgan and fired a laser at Cipher. PJ pulled his plane in front of Cipher's. Whether this was an attempt to escape or shield Cipher is not clear. His final fate is a matter of debate and speculation, but he is currently listed as 'MIA'; near the site where he was shot down, a small make-shift memorial lies to dedicate the memory of Patrick James Beckett.

I think that if they flying as usual(with Cipher as Leader of formation),PJ would not have been shot down by Pixy, because PJ had taken the place of Cipher in that moment!
So Cipher has threatened to be shot down without being able to idleness °_°
This thing scares me X°D

It didn't really matter what formation they were in. PJ pulled ahead and veered in front of Cipher. Come to think of it, if PJ hadn't moved it would have been Cipher's opportunity to pull away, which I maintain he easily could have.

Bottom line is both their guards were down and Cipher's instinct saved him because he veers away. Even if it would have missed PJ, it still would have missed him.

I think Pixy just wanted PJ out of the way so he could go head-to-head with Cipher.

Given current opinions, maybe Cipher wanted PJ out of the way, too...

I think since most fighter pilots like a left turn to evade or begin a fight, PJ likely acted on instinct which would have put him in the way of the path of the TLS. However, the notion that Pixy wanted PJ out of the way is a very good one, seeing that both had conflicting views on ending the Belkan War.

It's called the story tongue.gif
Namco made PJ veer in front of the laser so you had to take Pixy head on

In my file of ACZ, in my squadron records, PJ has not destroyed a single ground target. I have over 30 hours of gameplay. PJ has well over 4,000 air-to-air kill, but no ground ones. Does anybody else have the same phenomenon occur on their games? Even when I arm PJ for air-to-ground, and ORDER him to attack ground targets with his SP weapon, he doesn't destroy anything. However, he does just fine against air targets, though...Odd...

His status is still MIA? He has to be dead, if Larry shot his laser at PJ's F-16c his plane would quickly blowup. Giving him no time to bailout.

PJ goes after a few ground targets in my game, not many though. The majority of his kills seem to be aircraft, though.

Have you dispersed him to ground targets specifically at all in the game?

However, I have not noticed this. Strange indeed. I will have to see for myself if my file is similar.

PJ does tend to take air targets over ground targets, it's true.

No matter, he'll still never be as good as Pixy, whether it be being a wingman or a final boss fight.

He had 5 missions. That ought to be enough, since there's 18 missions, so Pixy had the other 13. That's 8 more...eh, I dunno.

What if PJ just panicked and made the first thing that passed on his mind, which causually led him to be hit by the laser... laugh.gif

Sorry for bumping a dead topic, but apparently, we can see his aircraft still in one piece, falling into the ground after the laser hits. I think he might have been killed by the laser itself, as we can see shattered glass coming from his F-16C soon after he gets hit

PJ blew up in mid air, the TLS penetrated the fuselage of the plane, not the cockpit.
