Overview:
The General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) F-16 Fighting Falcon is a lightweight, single engine, high-performance multi-role fighter; it is serving numerous air forces world-wide and has spawned several variants. The F-16 has become one of the most successful western fighter programs of the 20th century. Genesis of the successful F-16 fighter/attack aircraft lies in reaction to severe deficiencies in US fighter design revealed by the Vietnam War.

Following the success of the small, highly maneuverable F-86 day fighter in the Korean War, US fighter design changed to emphasize maximum speed, altitude, and radar capability at the expense of maneuverability, pilot vision, and other attributes needed for close combat. This trend reached its extremity in the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom, which was the principal fighter for both the US Air Force and Navy during the latter part of the Vietnam War.

This plane... I have no idea what to say about it... sometimes, it sucks, but, other times... it rocks.

I think it's a decent aircraft, although you are inevitably presented with better options later in the games...

Right; Avalanche, Blizzard, and Serac are the F/A-18F aces. Windhover, Saker, and Lanner are the Falcon pilots.

Man, this aircraft gets undercut in AC6. It was at least lower-middle range in AC5 and Zero. It doesn't deserve to be placed in the same in-game position as the F-5 and the J35J.

Well, I do agree with you their, pal. The F-16 is a great fighter by today's standards, and it has certainly outgrown its lightweight fighter design and went onto developing into major variants. Now, carrying mixed arrays of weaponry; upgraded avionics; etc. I do think its abilities are hampered in AC.

I love this plane so much. Great sense of control, very effective at multirole (if you know how to use it right), and there's just something satisfying about killing Strigons and Yellows with one of the most basic planes in the game.
