OVERVIEW:
The product of the ATF project to develop an all-around high-performance fighter - one which was capable, through the use of stealth technology and supercruise (supersonic cruise without afterburner), of swiftly engaging the enemy without detection; and which, even at close range, had the highest degree of maneuverability and was dogfight capable - was the F-22. Nevertheless, because of the decline in radar guided missiles brought about by advances in ECM technology and the establishment of anti-stealth radar networks, the stealth technology that appeared towards the end of the 20th century continued to lose tactical relevance. As a consequence of these developments, coupled with high production costs involved, there was little demand for this fighter to be produced in any great number. In order to counter Neucom’s newly developed aircraft, General Resource stepped up production, before the outbreak of conflict in 2040.

Despite the fact that there had been no significant structural improvement in the airframe, it remained in the top class of performance fighters. Externally, the fictional F-22C Raptor II is similar to the F-22A Raptor; the main differences between the two being the addition of a lengthened "tail stinger" to mount extra avionics, the addition of an airbrake between the two vertical stabilizers and the usage of the flaps as flapevators/flaperons, and ailerons as elevators to increase maneuverability.

In 2040, the F-22C was commonly used for high-intensity offensives and air dominance operations. GRDF top ace Abyssal Dision flew his personal version of the Raptor II, designated the F-22C Raptor II-D, during the Corporate War of 2040. Though his Raptor has a different designation, it is on the same performance level as the F-22C.

Even though I'm not a fan of the Raptor, I love how stable this thing is. happy.gif

Sweet. We'll be using these for sure.

I'm a fan of the Raptor in RL and in-game, but the F-22C has always been one of my favorite AC3 aircraft. Its stable, sleek, has a cool little tail stinger in the back, independent TVC (or something like it) and has that great dark blue camo on it. Its stable, but not so stable it can't maneuver. I always fly GRDF because of it.

I dont get the "flaps with capability" part. If I recall the flaps on the f-22C add to the maneuverability being a flaperon and a flapevator at the same time (probably can call it a flapevon if such a term exists).

It is a good fighter, you can use it for just about anything.

I think they could have added canards and made it a "F-22 ACTIVE" biggrin.gif

Why? It would look terrible with canards. Besides it's fine the way it is.

I cant edit posts here but please insert into the info about the F-22 vs F-22C :"the main differences between the two being the addition of a lengthened "tail stinger" to mount extra avionics, the addition of an airbrake between the two vertical stabilizers and the usage of the flaps as flapevators/flaperons, and ailerons as elevators to increase maneuverability."

Thanks
