Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception is the Seventh installment of the Ace Combat Series, the first for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) system. It was released Oct. 24th, 2006.

Plot
In 2020, the Federal Republic of Aurelia is at war with its neighbor, the Democratic Republic of Leasath. Aurelia was said to have exploited Leasath while they were in the middle of a civil war. The player becomes the leader of the Gryphus Squadron of the Aurelian Air Force. With the rest of the Aurelian Military crushed and in hiding, it is up to the player to retake the nation of Aurelia with the help of liberated allies. For more information, see our article on the Leasath-Aurelia War.

Multi-Player
Using Ad Hoc, Ace Combat X is capable of using multiplayer to allow up to four players to combat one another in various game modes. It is possible for Ace Combat X to be played online, but, the PSP must be able to access a wireless network to do so. Multiplayer modes include Dog Fight Survival and Shoot Out, Base Attack, Air Superiority, Beacon Battle, Escort Mission and the option to select a random game mode. For more information see our ACX Multi-Player Information article.

Original Aircraft Tuning
All but one of the six Original Aircraft (fictional aircraft) in Ace Combat X are capable of being modified with extra parts, such as engines, wings, and weapon systems. This allows players to fine tune aircraft to their specifications. This capability is only featured in Ace Combat X . Parts are acquired by completing missions, buying them from the Hangar area or completing missions under certain conditions with a specific aircraft. A somewhat similar feature is used in Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation in the form of downloadable paint schemes which change the stats of aircraft. For a list of these parts, see our ACX Part List article.

Target Viewer
For the first time in the the series, the target viewer device is added to the HUD's top left corner. This allows the player to view which target they are engaging, along with how many point that target is worth. The Target Viewer is reintroduced in Ace Combat 6 and is capable of showing real time video of a target, rather than a general image of it.

Strategic AI System
Ace Combat X takes the multi-mission path concept, introduced in Ace Combat 2 and used in Ace Combat 3 [JP], and modifies it with the 'Strategic AI System'. A player can be presented with up to three missions at a time within the campaign mode. As the player chooses to play one mission, the incompletion of another mission results in a change of how the campaign is played. The player's decision to take on one mission effects the conditions or enemies present in another mission; variants of certain missions are unlocked in this manner. For more information, see our article on the "Strategic AI System".

Multi-Purpose Gauge
The Multi-Purpose Gauge (MPG) is only used in Ace Combat X. The gauge is often used to show the player how many allied forces are left in an area, how much stress their aircraft is under when carrying a special load out (NTRL) or acts as a timer for certain events.

Language Support
Though the game is only available in an English Audio Track, the subtitles can be changed for players which speak/read the Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Hangul (Korean) languages.

Updated the format.

If making corrections, DO NOT change the format.

Thanks.

Grammar edits made, most involving the spelling of AURELIA and the dreaded "it's."
