Origin: (Real World)
Russia (Soviet Union)

Games Featured In:
Ace Combat Advance

Operators:
Air Strike Force (General Resource LTD.)

Specifications:
L= 42.4 m
W= ---
H= 11.05 m

Information:
The Tu-22M Backfire was a long-range bomber capable of performing various tasks, extending from medium range air-to-surface missile attacks, to low-level penetration missions and nuclear weapons delivery. Though the aircraft first went into production in 1971, the Tu-22 Backfire is still in service in Ukraine and Russia.

Based off of the Tu-22 'Blinder' design, the Tu-22M Backfire was designed almost immediately after the Tu-22 Blinder went into service. Seeking to better the design's weak points, the newly designed Tu-22M would take advantage of variable geometry wings used by the MiG-23 and Su-17 Fitter designs to overcome short take off performance, efficent crusing and good high and low level performance.
