Overview:
The Lockheed Martin F-117A Nighthawk is a tactical strike aircraft; it is most famous for its 'stealth' capability. Despite the "F" prefix which usually denounces a fighter, the F-117 Nighthawk harbors very limited (if any) air attack capability. The aircraft was built solely as a strike aircraft, with the capability to deliver just two 2000lb JDAM or Paveway guided bombs across a nearly unlimited range with aerial refueling. The Nighthawk can only reach high subsonic speeds so as to mask heat signatures and guard against IR-seeking missiles. Of course the aircraft's real stealth ability comes from its black-painted airframe.

Designed upon a diamond and then faceted into an aerodynamic, right-angle-less machine, the F-117 is a marvel of aviation. Sophisticated fly-by-wire allows the extremely unstable shape to fly unhindered through the air. For years it was labelled a black-ops jet, but its existence was fully revealed in the Gulf War, where it struck with ferocity against the Baghdad air defense system. As of today, it remains one of the world's most respected strike fighters. However, as of April 2008; the F-117A Nighthawk has now been officially retired from service; where its precision strike role will be taken over by the F-22 Raptor.

Has anybody had any success online in AC6 with this baby? I know it can equip QAAMs...I'm just wondering if anybody actually got the darned plane to work for 'em...

Yeah, a completely worthless aircraft laugh.gif I only mess around with it in freeflight to be honest, and I do know a few who had success with it online but as QAAM users which pretty much brings in no skills. Also Stealth has no effect on the player but on the AI its a different story and thats single player mode I'm talking about. I seriously think Namco should rethink the whole stealth system TBH because its completely useless against the AI.

The only time I have ever used that plane is in Solitaire. That and a bombing mission of Port St. Hewlett on free flight (which is even more fun to do with SFFS, just hold down the launch button and watch your bomb explode on friendly territory!).

I did use it for, "Fortress" in AC5, but "8492" proved to be too hard for me. For some reason, though, my older brother managed to do it in that craft and an A-10 on different occasions.

In, "Fortress," it is just deadly against those bunkers, as is the case for, "Lit Fuse." The first time I played AC5 I used the Nighthawk to bomb the Yuke positions, and I had much more success than my older brother (at a time when we were both playing the game) completing the mission. I have also used it to great effect in, "Powder Keg," where its PGBs devastated the ammo dump tunnels and other ground targets.

"Solitaire," given the nature of the mission, seems suitable for the aircraft. I have used it there too. It is a better ground-attack plane than some give it credit for.

Oh man... that'd be like doing that mission in the A-bleepin-6E. Ay ay ay.

I like to use the Strike Eagle for Powder Keg.

I played against someone that was using it by circling high above the main fight spamming QAAMs with moderate success. Until I started picking him off with SAAMs from range. Not sure what you mean by "work for 'em" but stealth aircraft WILL break missile lock in multiplayer.

I've used this baby in online combat... Grey can screw me over with it, but with the proper QAAM spamming technique, it's just fine.

I see...Personally, I can't see this plane as anything other than a big, clunky, stealthy target...

Big, yes. Clunky, also yes. Stealthy? I dunno.

Even that (stealth) requires extensive maintenance procedures for the craft, prompting one to wonder how they were economical to use in training exercises or sorties.

No. There's 1 pic and 4 image links. One image is the standard format, and please stop posting that on every bloody article.
