OVERVIEW:
The Delphinus I is Neucom Inc.'s initial production fighter. Its design strongly resembles that of the YR-99 Forneus, so it is assumed that the YR-99 was the prototype for the Delphinus I. It's Structure and its Radical Design, quickly caught the eye of many buyers across the world. The R-101 is the first Neucom mass produced fighter aircraft on the planet with COFFIN installed as a standard.

The Delphinus #1 is the first in the series of Delphinus air dominance fighters. They would form the core of the ‘R-numeral’ aerial fleet to be built to completely new specifications devised by Neucom. The R-101 makes liberal use of Neucom’s global technological lead in aviation and aerospace industries. 90% of the fuselage has been constructed from new alloys and composites; newly developed high-output turbofans; laminar flow control techniques that dynamically manage airflow over the craft’s surface – the list is endless. --- the development of fighter aircraft has predominabily centered upon on upgrading models developed during the last century. The performance of this fighter aircraft, which has been developed from the ground up using new technology, is far above that of any current fighter. Since developing this model, Neucom continued to develop in an extremely short time span, Innovative aircraft through the use of advanced engineering techniques and technical skills – craft design conducted by AI; the use of nano-machines – and continued to expand its product portfolio.

The R-101 saw combat action in 2040 under Neucom Command and within the Universal Peace Enforcement Organization, as the R-101U. Though its performance was later over shadowed by later Delphinus models, it was still effective on the battlefield.

Oh nice, I had that cover pic on my HD for a long time, but for some reason didn't do anything with it.....I'm not going crazy am I? It is a 1-view pic right?

BTW: The Cinema pictures above are not mine, they are posted at a photobucket acount, that's how you can tell, I only do ImageShack. I did find it strange for a moment though, I didn't remember taking them...lol

Oh, and here's a few shots....can't remember where I got the original though....

OK, I've been working on this for a while.....I must admit first that the original model was "borrowed" from Asameshi's AC3 pack for YS Flight. His models were pretty close to being exact, but some of the meshes were pretty ugly. For some reason he vanished from the YS Flight community so I can't ask permission to mess with them, but since I'm not making anything off them, I don't see how much of a problem he could have with it as long as I give him props (Asameshi is also the source of the R-103 model I used to make a three view in the R-103 thread). I spent a great deal of time converting tris to quads and then smoothing the fuselage and subsurfacing the model. Then I did the texture, which is not finished yet, all my own.

This is a work in progress, but I think that having a nice, high quality model of the R-101 would be really cool and should turn out pretty well. I'm trying to learn bumpmapping to add some of the finer details of the R-101, but it seems to be a bit tougher than I thought. Mostly I've just got the basic colors on the texture right now.

so since it doesn't have any kind of horizontal stabilizer, v-tail,t-tail, canards, any obvious TVC or etc how does it stay stable?

Fly-by-wire most likely. Heck, most of the latest planes are unstable as all hell even with v-tail, canards, etc.

yea but with wings like that, maybe i'm thinking to much into this. I wonder if the YR-99 was designed to seem more like a real world craft then the R-101.

Please tell me any details that are wrong. I want this to be a flawless showcase model. I'll then share a 3D X file of the plane.
