First off, this is one of the few missions with a time-based ranking system, so step on it if you're out for an S-rank.

This mission was designed with the FAEB in mind. It's not an excuse to force a Fregata purchase down your throat, I honestly believe the Fregata is otherwise a great plane for A2G sorties in general. It's stable yet maneuverable enough to get you out of A2A pinches if you stumble upon some along the way. And if you're not satisfied you could always sell it for all your money back.

Anyway, back to the mission design. The targets are condensed in clusters for your convenience. Take down the entire ground defense sector ahead of you and pick off any circulating aircraft in the vicinity. Rinse and repeat several times for the second sector.

Now if you've tackled the walkthrough up to this part quickly enough, VIPER will spawn to the northwest and the U-2 star unit to the southeast. Blast them through the pearly gates and off our planet for the extra rewards, then proceed to eliminate the rest of the sectors.

My biggest advice overall is to focus on one thing at a time. Nail the Ace and Star Units in one playthrough then the S-rank in another.
