Mission Walkthrough
This is a mission over a wide area with multiple enemies. There are no targets on this mission, only a time limit. The UGBMs on the F/A-18C have a wide blast radius and are able to deal with large clusters of enemy forces. Be sure to be as efficient as possible with your weapons. One standard missile destroys all enemies, except for Pillboxes and Batteries.
There are different strategies to deploy when attacking each of the three beaches, but remember that getting caught up in a dogfight with enemy fighters will only waste time. In order to secure a beach, you must destroy all enemy forces that are already on the beach and then destroy any reinforcements that enter the area. While moving from beach to beach, be sure to destroy any targets of opportunity along the coastline, such as radar sites.
The beach on the far left is Halle Beach. Of the three beaches, Halle has the most enemies to deploy against your forces and is the largest of the three beaches, as it is split into two sections. Halle Beach is also the beach that will take the longest to secure, because of the large enemy presence. There are bunkers, tanks, AA Guns, SAM sites and artillery batteries along and around Halle beach. AA Guns and SAMs are usually near large clumps of enemies so deploying a UGB on them is vital. Once all ground forces are destroyed, a vast number of AA Guns and tanks will begin to make their way onto Halle, by way of a twisting inland path. The beach will be secure once these targets are destroyed.
Crowne Beach is the beach in the center, inbetween the two other beaches. Crown Beach is covered with Pillboxes and three clusters of anti-air positions. Destroying the clusters of enemies, before destroying the Pillboxes is recommended, because this will knock out any air defenses in the area. Once most of the ground targets are destroyed, enemy Mi-24 Hind attack helicopters will appear over Crown Beach and begin to attack ISAF troops pushing inland. Destroying these helicopters will secure Crowne Beach.
Caranda Beach is to the far right of all beaches in the operation. All of Caranda Beaches enemy forces are gathered in clusters around artillery batteries or are stationed in the open, on the beach. Using UGBMs on these targets will clear out the forward area of the beach quickly. To the rear of Caranda Beach are various Howitzer and MLRS artillery vehicles, bombarding landing forces at Caranda. There are very few reinforcements. Destroying the various artillery vehicles and other pop-up targets at Caranda will secure that beach.
After the time limit passes, six A-10A Thunderbolt II attack aircraft will attack your allies at Crowne Beach. Once arriving at Crowne, shoot down all the A-10As. After shooting down three of them, two F-15Cs and two MiG-29As arrive over Caranda and attempt to engage you. Shoot down the escort fighters first, before shooting down the remaining A-10As and complete the mission.
