Geography:
The geography of the area ranges from deep valleys to high mountain tops. Due to its high altitudes, snow is able to form and settle on the tops of this mountain chain during the winter. During the warmer months, the snow melts revealing a craggy surface. This area had to have received an almost continuous uplifting of earth in the entire area. Igneous and Metamorphic rocks mainly make up for this craggy terrain. Small rivers also flow through this area, which accounts for the steep valleys. An ancient Fortress of medieval castles and other structures, known as "Glatisant" shows that this area is a natural defensive point in the region.
The Hydrian Line: Glatistant
During the Belkan War, Glatisant was transformed into a modern base by the Belkan Military. The Facility made up the primary defensive position of first Belkan Defense Line, known as 'Hydrian Line'. The Hydrian Line itself was
700 km long and stretched from Osea's southern border to the border of Sapin.
Glatisant was separated into five main areas. An initial Air Defense Area (Area Gate), a secondary air defense area with a large Control Tower (Area Wall ), a flat area which deploys VTOL Aircraft and has secondary barracks (Area Garden), an incorporated Anti-Air Defense and frontline Troop deployment area (Area Castle) and a final defense line which is made up of two large towers, housing Flak Cannons surrounded by other air defenses.
Along with these main areas, smaller defensive points were scattered in between the main defenses. This integrated air defense net covered a wide area. To add to its effectiveness, aerial forces were incorporated as well. These included AV-8B VTOL aircraft stationed at Glatisant's Area Garden.
Belkan War (Operation Hell Bound)
Due to its overall firepower and sheer size, the Allied Forces believed that it may have had Nuclear Weapons deployed somewhere in the facility. The Allied Forces targeted Glatistant because of this and validated the attack under the title of a Nuclear Inspection and opened the door to South Belka. This operation would begin offensive operations in South Belka.
A large force of Military and Mercenary forces attacked it on May 17th, 1995. Despite full cooperation between all of the Glatisant defensive points, the Allied Forces managed to destroy much of the Fortress. This attacked rendered it useless. This victory did not yield any evidence of Nuclear Weapons at Glatistant, but did open a large hole in the South Belkan Border. This gap would lead to the destruction of the Hydrian Line and cause Belkan Forces to fall back to the 2nd Belkan Defensive Line in the Schyane Plains.
