Geography:
The geography around Hoffnung features rolling hills and two major rivers. One flowing out of Ustio and the other flowing out from another country, possibly Recta. The same rolling hills might also be the foothills of the mountain range that makes up the 'Round Table'. The only evidence of geology that is visible, is that the area is possibly made up sedimentary rocks that have been compressed slightly to form the foothills. The city of Hoffnung was once one of Belka's leading producers of military supplies. Wether or not it recovered from the extensive damage of "Operation Cannibal" is unknown.

Operation Cannibal:
During the Belkan War and most likely long before the, Hoffnung was a large producer of Belkan Military Armaments and Vechicles. Alongside Sudentor, Hoffnung was one of Belka's main industrial centers. After the two main defensive lines at Glatistant and the Schayne Plains were overrun and The Round Table was taken by the Allied Forces, Hoffnung came under immediate attack from Allied Air Forces. The attack, initially planned to be a precision strike against key production facilities, diluted into an indiscriminate bombing which covered the entire city. Seeing that the city was lost, the Belkan Military ordered a full scale retreat from Hoffnung while employing scorched earth tactics. As the Belkan Forces left the city they began to burn down any facilities that could be of use to the Allied Forces, not taking civilian lives into account. Having been absent through out most of the attack, the Belkan Air Force eventually appeared over Hoffnung and managed to shoot down some of the Allied Bombers. These fighters were engaged by the Galm Team almost as soon as they appeared and were shot down. The operation was successful for the Allied Forces, but the city was virtually destroyed afterwards.

Burning refineries and scorched earth tactics was what burned down Hoffnung.
