Aeon Technology
-Air purifying and flight performance enhancing technology.-

-Aeon Symbol-

Note the resemblance to the X-49

Background Information:
Aeon technology originally appeared in Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere. Aircraft designers utilized aeon technology to enable the X-49 to surpass next generation fighter designs. Aeon technology became widespread in the 2040's thanks to the usage of aeons to purify the air.

-Aeonjet-

Aeonjet home air purifying system marketed in the 2040's

-NEUCOM AEON Generator-

Aeon generators were designed, built and maintained by Neucom's Space Environment and Development Division.
These are what generate Aeons and release them into the atmosphere, thus creating an Aeonosphere in the Earth's atmosphere.

-Aeontrails-

In the picture above, an XR-900 Geopelia is seen at high speed. Aeon trails can be clearly seen behind the aircraft. This is an inherent trait on the X-49 and XR-900 aircraft, seen when they reach a certain speed. The only drawback to aeon technology is that the creating low percentage of particles in the air results in reduced speed and maneuverability for both aircraft.

It is also important to note that the X-49 and XR-900 boast an active stealth system that makes them invisible to radar even against the anti-stealth radar systems used widely by the 2040's. It could be assumed that this is also a function of aeon technology.

Real World Parallels:
The closest real world equivalent of aeons would be ions. Ions are currently used in several systems that claim to purify the air of harmful substances by using passing air through high voltage thus creating ionized air.

Ion thrusters are used in space as low thrust alternatives to chemical rockets, and even though they may lack the outright thrust of conventional chemical rockets, ion thrusters are able to provide the small amount of thrust they offer for a much longer period of time thus making them useful in long missions.

Interestingly enough, these ion thrusters use some sort of plasma to provide thrust along with the aforementioned ions.

As of now, there is no Aeon particle system in development or in planning that would directly contribute to aircraft performance. The closest thing we have to a particle that enhances aircraft performance would be plasma.

Russian researchers have been doing experiments with active stealth by enveloping an aircraft with a plasma cloud. There have been reports that an Su-27 was fitted with a plasma generator which they claimed reduced radar cross section by 100.
Some research has also been going on in Russia on using the plasma cloud to improve resistance to high airspeeds by using the plasma cloud as a sort of "lubricant" or "shield" against the fast moving air.

Notable Aircraft Equipped with aeon Technology:
X-49 Night Raven (AC3)
XR-900 Geopelia (AC3)

AEON and ION are spelled almost the same in japanese.

Wait... Then could it be that there was a mix up in the translations and Aeon should be Ion? blink.gif

This is a good article.

I'd only suggest adding information about the Aeon Generators and how the X-49 can charge its laser cannon with the Aeon particles.

Will do once I get some rest (holiday rush) and get more background on the laser cannon x aeon connection.

Neither aeons nor Neucom are acronyms. Edited.

Whoa Good job guys!! The Aeons are the key of the world of AC3!!!
Thanks for the information.

I guess those were only in the Japanese version. I don't remember seeing anything like that in the US version.

I think you will only see it on the AI Geoepelias and the Night Raven AI. Aeons usually show up when you past
1600+ KMPH and Aeon particles will most likely show up, in the X-49; or XR-900. As opposed to the US Version; I think they left those out for player aircraft. blink.gif

I meant the actual structure in the screenshot.

I've don't remember seeing that building in AC3 US.

And while we're on the subject, there was one mission where you had to destroy a Neucom powerplant. You took out the 4 outer facilities, which opened up for the big one in the middle for the kill. And man, when that thing went, that thing went. What kind of powerplant was that?

@SoB:
Ah; the platforms? You can see those easily in some missions; such as Damage control; and in Port Edwards.
Also the Neucom powerplant you were mentioning was in the Mission: Moonlight Flower in the Export version and "Partners" in the JP version; it is a Microwave power plant; that jams radar effectiveness when in the area of where the generators are; other than that they only supply power to Neucom munititions factories.

Aeon generators were only present in the jp version of ac3, one of the endings (Cynthia i think) has you destroying Aeon generators because the X-49 cannot be hit no matter how hard you try.

No; Aeon Genrators do appear in the US Version. Except they are not fully lit up.
Here is a shot of it:

Wow. There's just so much backstory they left out of the US version. I feel even more cheated. Oh well, here's to hoping for a remake. biggrin.gif

Do not abandon hope, my friend. We'll talk their ears off if they listen for even a second. That way we'll know that we're getting to them.

So anyway, back on topic - article edited.

Where did the pics of the AEon jet and trade mark come from? I can't seem to find them in my AC3 JP peek-a-boom. Thanks, Brad
