The Round Table
- Belkan / Ustian Border, Osean Continent -

An aerial photo of the 'Round Table', aka B7R, on the Ustian side (UAF: 04/20/1995)
( other aerial photos: Image-A - Image-B - Image-C )

Geography:
It is located at north latitude 24° east longitude 235°. The topography makes the location look like a giant circle with a 400 km radius. The geography of the 'Round Table' is very unique to the region. The mountain range that runs through this area creates a circle, that starts near Hoffnung and branches off to form the Waldreich Mountain range. The area has a semi-arid climate, but it has rich deposits of minerals. The exact concentration of these minerals are unknown until a detailed geological survey of the area can be organized. In the distant geological past, water might have flowed through this area creating 'ripples' in the ground. Extremely weathered surfaces of the mountains reinforces the theory that this area periodically receives heavy rain storms.

Background Information:
Belkan Priority One Strategic Airspace, is located at the border between Belka and Ustio. Because of the minerals underneath the soil of B7R, the Belkan Military and Allied Forces constantly contested for control of this area, through out the Belkan War. Fighter aircraft were shot down at a fearsome rate over B7R, making the area an infamous battleground.

The Belkan War (Op. Choker One):
The newly formed Alliance between Osea, Ustio, Yuktobania and Sapin, known as the Allied Forces, deployed Ustian Mercenaries into The Round Table for an emergency reconnaissance mission. The unit selected was the 66th AFU ‘Galm’ Team of the 6th Air Division. Galm One and Two entered B7R and engaged many Belkan fighter aircraft on patrol over The Round Table. Despite being outnumbered, the Galm Team shot down most of the Belkan fighters over the Round Table. At that time one of the Belkan Ace Squadrons entered the area to intercept the Galm Team, but were also shot down, despite all odds. The Galm pilots would later learn that this operation was nothing more than a decoy operation for beginning of Offensive Operation 4101.

The Belkan War (Op. Battle-Axe):
After pushing deep into South-Belka and destroying the 'Excalibur' Chemical Laser Weapon, the Allied Forces launched an all out attack on B7R. At the same time this attack was launched, Allied Forces officially announced the permanent abrogation of its nonaggression treaty at the Assembly of Nations. The Belkan Air Force seemed to be slowly turning the tide of the battle over The Round Table, against the Allied Forces. The Galm Team was launched on an emergency sortie to the Round Table and upon arrival, Galm One was accredited with saving the Allied Forces attack and securing The Round Table. Though Belkan reinforcements arrived in the form of a Belkan Ace Squadron, Galm Team shot down these Belkan aircraft and finalized air superiority over B7R.

The Belkan War (Op. Thunderbolt):
After the attacks on Lumen and Valais Air Base and the discovery of “A World With No Boundaries”, an Allied strike force was sent to attack their forces in Mund, Belka. This attack was lead by the Galm Team of the Ustian Air Force. As the Galm Team passed through B7R on their way to Mund Valley, they were intercepted by an Ace Squadron, which defected from one of the nations involved in the Belkan War. Though this slowed the advanced of the Galm Team, they were eventually successful in breaking through B7R and pressing the attack into Mund Valley.

I wonder how many planes have been shot down over B7R...Galm 1 himself shot down close to fifty, I'd bet, give or take. That's not even counting all the other engagements that took place there in other wars and whatnot...

Well, if it's famous for its dogfights, I'd imagine several hundred. It's not like there are dozens of Cipher-I'm-an-indestructible-god-of-war pilots out there.

Oh man, you should not have retired. There's this rumor of the new ADFX-03. Its now offcially on AceWiki. The article is not even confirmed yet posted. The funny thing though, it uses oxygen as an SP weapon.

You know, I just thought of something... there's no really clear map of what is Area B7R. All we ever get is the Ustio edge of it which shows a large semi circle and never the full "Table" itself. Would it possibly be a good idea to use this edge of the semi circle and post on here an approximate of what the full range of Area B7R is so we can clearly see why a semi circle is called "The Round Table". Even on here I see descriptions of the mountain ranges forming a circle, but there is no clear map that shows the mountains forming a circle or am I missing a detail here?

B7R is named as such because of Arthurian/King Arthur symbolism, like many other things in Ace Combat Zero's plot. Just like the knights of the round table, everyone fighting in B7R was equal, rookies and veterans alike.

I was fully aware of that part of the name, being I read Arthurian legend all the time and such, but my question deals more with the geography of Area B7R. In both missions where we enter Area B7R airspace, we only see the outer edge of the area:

We see in this screenshot that our missions only pertain to a certain section of B7R, and that the "Round Table" is far larger then that area that we fight in. So my question really is how big is Belkan Priority One Airspace B7R and which mountains give it the unique circle mentioned in both mission briefings and even on this site? After all, single edge of mountains does not form a circle... there is much more to the Round Table then what they're letting us see.

Just out of curiosity, why do you ask?
