VERSUS MODE INFORMATION
General Information:
The versus mode from the original Air Combat and Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies has returned in this installment of the Ace Combat series. Before each match, the players can set the length of time for each match and the amount of points they would like to play to, along with selecting their aircraft and weaponry. Aircraft and Weaponry that are unlocked in a loaded campaign are the only aircraft that are accessible.
The versus mode does not compensate for aircraft ability in anyway, unlike Ace Combat 06. Ace Combat Zero's versus mode presents each player with unique scenarios on every map. Each versus mode mission provides each player with a different way to win the match, beyond shooting down the opposing player.
Mission Details:
Stage One is a battle between each player that revolves around a single island with a large yellow flag in the center. As players race to destroy this flag as it respawns and fight one another, they are also attacked by a CPU (Computer generated) Aircraft.
Stage Two is a one on one dogfight with no restrictions, beyond standard aircraft payload.
Stage Three is a one on one dogfight which focuses on realistic payloads. Each player has one special weapon, eight standard missiles (MSSL) and unlimited gun ammo.
Stage Four is an air race. Players must fly through as many rings as possible to gain the most points and win the battle. Shooting down the opposing player once results in an immediate victory. Each aircraft is allowed to carry one standard missile and has unlimited gun ammo.
Stage Five is a point competition. Each player is trying to out score one another by shooting down the most CPU Aircraft and reaching the score limit first. This level can also be played as a forced CO-OP level by having each player work with one another to eliminate the Belkan Ace Squadrons.
Stage Six is a dogfight which takes place in a canyon, has an altitude restriction due to an enemy AA Defense System and is filled with jammer aircraft and installations, impairing your radar.
Stage Seven provides each player their own squadron as they face off against one another. Each squadron is made up of five aircraft (not including the player); of these aircraft three are named aircraft. These aircraft are side specific. Player One's named aircraft are "Archer", "Edge" and "Chopper", while Player Two's are named, "Omega", "Halo" and "Viper". These names are references to Ace Combat 05 and Ace Combat 04.
