The Fall of Grunder Industries

At the end of the Circum-Pacific War in 2010, a group of Belkan extremists known as the “Grey Men” from the war 15 years ago were found to be engineering the entire conflict since the beginning. In Oured, the capital of Osea, the Osean President Harling and Yuktobanian Prime Minister Nikanor made a speech together denouncing the war and calling for a cease fire between each side. This is their speech:

Harling: This is President Harling of the Osean Federation. Attention, all Osean and Yuktobanian officers and soldiers currently on the battlefield. Let us put down our guns and come out of the trenches. The Osean capital of Oured has been freed of the people who took advantage of my absence to usurp control of the country. Once robbed of my freedom and of my ability to do the right thing, I now stand again under the light of the golden sun, and I do so with the honorable Yuktobanian Prime Minister Nikanor by my side. We have resolved our terrible and unfortunate misunderstandings, and the war is now over.

Nikanor: This is Prime Minister Nikanor, head of government for the Union of Yuktobanian Republics. Attention, all officers and soldiers of Osea and Yuktobania currently on the battlefield. Please watch as President Harling and I stand shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand. President Harling’s words are true. The war is over, but there is one more battle that still needs to be fought.

Harling: We believe that those who have tired to stir hatred between us are now preparing a weapon that could wipe out half of all metropolitan areas in either one of our counties. Our comrades are in flight as I speak, determined to stop this plan dead in its tracks. Which country is under the threat of mass destruction? That, we do not know.

Nikanor: However, that is no longer important. No matter which country is hit, it would be a severe blow to all of us.

Harling: So now I ask you, members of the military. If you see it in your hearts, please utilize the resources available to you and help out our brave pilots. Right now they are flying east to meet the enemy.

Nikanor: To those who still dare to hide behind the power of their hateful weapons: Bring yourself before the light of peace and harmony.



At this time, a United Osean and Yuktobanian force began to attack Grunder Industries, which was being used by the “Grey Men,” and was confirmed as their Headquarters, in an attempt to destroy the newly re-vamped V2 project. The combined force consisted of the 703rd Tactical Fighter Squadron and 172nd Fighter-Bomber Squadron, along with AWACS Oka Nieba of the Yuktobanian Air Force, the 1st Fighter Wing, the 112th Infantry Battalion, and the 502nd Tactical Fighter Wing of the Osean Military, all lead by the “Demons of Razgriz”.

Grunder Industries, seeing this force gathering, then said they would give up the less powerful V1 to the war mongers willing to help them, though they were hiding the more powerful V2 rocket from these would-be allies. Now, a second Osean and Yuktobanian force believed to be lead by the Osean Captain Hamilton, who was found to be a Belkan operative, began to attack the united forces.

As the battle in Sudentor (the area that separates Belka and North Osea/South Belka) began to unfold, reporters from Yuktobania and Osea began their broadcasts in the city as well. The following are the actual words from that day from the Osean and Yuktobanian broadcasters:



Local Newscaster: The advancing Osean and Yuktobanian forces have gathered in the industrial sector. It seems that once again, this area has been caught up in the flames of war.

Local Newscaster: It's still unclear why they're being referred to as the "Razgriz". The Razgriz is a storybook character who is called both a demon and a hero.

Osean Press: According to sources close to the President, the "Razgriz" consists of four. One of the pilots is reportedly a female, but we haven't been able to confirm this yet.

Yuktobanian Press: Now the two countries are freely exchanging goodwill, not gunfire.

Yuktobanian Press: The words from the leaders of both countries have moved the masses.

Osean Press: Ground forces from both armies are advancing together, a scene unimaginable just a while ago!

Local Newscaster: The soldiers in town are all cheering the "Razgriz" in unison.

Osean Press: Even as I report this, I cannot believe what I am seeing!

Osean Press: This scene is just...I’m just speechless.

Osean Press: You can see the soldiers waving to us.

Yuktobanian Press: Following the military, the news media here will join forces with Osea too.

Osean Press: We are broadcasting in tandem with the Soyuz Broadcast News in Yuktobania.

Yuktobanian Press: Tonight will mark a great moment in the annals of history!

Osean Press: There is almost a palpable sense of the people's will to shape history!

Osean Press: We are witnessing the change of an era. This is a turning point in our history!

Yuktobanian Press: I've never felt more proud and privileged to be a journalist then at this very moment!

Yuktobanian Press: Let us etch in our minds this scene, and remember every single moment!

Osean Press: Fighter jets are passing over us at low altitude.

Local Newscaster: All citizens are asked to please proceed to your designated shelters.

Osean Press: Evacuation of the city appears to be proceeding smoothly, and without any turmoil.

Local Newscaster: Please do not approach the combat zone, as it is extremely dangerous.

Local Newscaster: Bring a white cloth or flag along, so that you're not mistaken for a combatant.

Osean Press: Ground forces appear to have entered the urban area. Let's go to a reporter on the scene.

Yuktobanian Press: A fierce battle is taking place across the street from where I stand-Look out!

Local Newscaster: The Osean and Yuktobanian armies are continuing their advance under air support.

Local Newscaster: Explosions are echoing throughout the city, shattering the calm of the night.

Local Newscaster: The battle can be seen from the Community Broadcast building here in Sudentor.

Local Newscaster: This is Sergei Koslov, reporting for Community Broadcast News.

Yuktobanian Press: Reporting from Osea, this is Mikhail Zirov, Soyuz Broadcast News.



Near the end of these broadcasts, the SOLG became operational and began firing on the forces attacking Grunder Industries from orbit. However, the Osean 112th Infantry Battalion managed to capture the control room of Grunder Industries and opened the entrance of the facility's tunnel, allowing the “Demons of Razgriz” to enter it and destroy one of the system’s cores, which controlled the SOLG and V2’s firing systems. Captain Jack Bartlett, who had previously assisted the Razgriz in various operations, flew into the tunnel from the other side and destroyed the system's other core. At the end of the battle, this transmission was sent:
