According to the PDF Shin posted, it's a sequel to the PSP release, ACX. It's going to make full use of the touch screen and the motion sensor (but you saw that coming anyway).

There are also some story details tucked in but I can't figure them out of google translate. Here's the specific text for those of you with greater mental capabilities...

The game is going to be available for download in Winter 2009.

Also,

I'm not 100% certain (and couldn't be because I don't have access to my PSP atm) but I think this is Port Patterson in the picture.

Ace Combat is the next major franchise to make the trip to iPhone. Namco Bandai announced today Ace Combat Xi: Skies of Incursion, a new iPhone entry in the fan favorite arcade-style flight series. The game will be released through Bandai Networks America this Winter.

Skies of Incursion is a direct sequel to PSP's Ace Combat X Skies of Deception. The game's story follows the same battle as that title, but focuses on Falcon Squadron, a separate unit in the Aurelian Airforce.

Namco Bandai will be making use of the iPhone's accelerometer and touch screen to give the game a unique interface. It will be possible to pilot your plane by tilting your phone. Additionally, the game balance and play time are being adjusted to better suit mobile players.

First look at Ace Combat on the iPhone.
Pricing has yet to be set for the game. In addition to the main download, players will also be able to download planes separately. The download content is also unpriced at present.

You can see more screenshots of the game at Famitsu.com. A playable build is scheduled to be shown at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show in the Namco Bandai Games booth.

Possibly a member of the Falco Sq., huh? Well, that's not so bad. Maybe you'll run into Gryphus 1 out there?

Also

The Falco squadron is waaaay more equipped for the job. I mean, look at how many super planes they're fielding out there.

Justified, since it was only you out there, the rest of your squad was blown to smithereens, remember?

This is true. They never stood a chance against the SWBM in those F-4s. Well, hopefully Namdai will be nice enough to break the AC history and assign the wingmen Fenrirs. That'd be pretty awesome.

Also, the title makes me think that Leasath will finally get theirs! You know, "Incursion" vs "Deception".

Now obviously, control on the iPhone is much more difficult than on the PSP, so there is almost no way Falco 1 can outmatch Gryphus 1. Nice to see a sequel to ACX, though. It is yet another reason to get an iPhone.

Why are ACXi's images the same as ACXs? I mean there's the sunset Gleipnir one, the wallpaper that was crudely photoshopped to add an "i" in and seemingly several familiar missions?

Also, you should mention the control, which is that analog control drawn in the left of the screen. I guess you touch it and drag it along.

Because for all intents and purposes, this is pretty much a port.

That smiley kinda startled me when I looked at it closely... Yeah, back to S. Osea, again. At least AC6 took us somewhere new. I wonder how many aircraft we can expect for this one?

Except it was only once, and we never really revisited there again. (No, Sonne Island doesn't count)

@Blue: I tried to use something new. It's my "Insane" Look.
