Plot
The war takes place in 2015, on the Anean Continent in areas where Ulysses fragments had impacted in 1999. Three countries have been introduced: Republic of Emmeria and the Federation of Estovakia are the nations at war with one another. The third nation, the Kingdom of Nordennavic has also been revealed, but they do not play any major role in the plot. The player's squadron is a part of the Emmerian Air Force's 28th Tactical Fighter Squadron "Garuda" of the 8th Air Wing. The player's callsign is "Talisman".
The Ulysses Asteroid's fall in 1999 caused damage to the whole continent. Emmeria had managed to sustain itself, but Estovakia collapses into civil war and economic ruin. A military government is established in Estovakia. By 2015, the federation is restored and Estovakia re-enters a short-lived nationwide peace until invading Emmeria in that same year. The Emmerian capital city, Gracemeria, is attacked by surprise by a large and powerful unknown force, later confirmed to be the Estovakian Military. In the initial strike, Estovakian forces destroyed two sections of Kings Bridge. This caused panic among the citizens of the capital and Air Base Command ordered a general evacuation order for all residents of the capital before the Estovakians could take over Gracemeria. Soon after Emmerian capital had fallen into Estovakian hands, Emmerian Forces were pushed east onto the southern tip of Khesed Island. From here, the Emmerian Military begins its battle to retake its homeland. For more information, see our article on The EE War.
Wingman Commands:
The player can control several allied squadrons simultaneously, along with their wingman "Shamrock". This is a significant change from the classic one, two or four-man squadrons seen regularly in the series. The players will be able to fight alongside fighter planes, gunships, attack helicopters, tanks, naval fleets, heavy bombers, and electronic warfare vessels in the largest missions ever seen in the Ace Combat series. These support assets can be used to clear out large areas of enemies with an all out attack from nearby allies. As the player destroys enemy units a small gauge at the bottom of their HUD begins to fill up. Once this gauge has at least one bar (these bars turn yellow when ready) the player can either hold the up button on their directional pad to order an attack on targets in front of them or hold the down button on the same pad to have all allies attack enemies behind them. For more information, refer to our article on the Allied Support System.
New Dynamic Mission System:
This is a new system that allows large scale battles to change as you play them. Multiple 'tasks' (mini-missions, or objectives; up to six at most) may arise during the mission. Depending on the conditions of the 'task,' can decide if the player's original mission is a success or is a failure. The player can choose to be deployed in a specific area at the beginning of each mission, but is free to move from battlefield to battlefield as the mission rages on. This new system will truly test all levels of the Ace Combat gamer, from new pilots to veterans. For more information, refer to our article on the Dynamic Mission System.
XBOX Live and Multiplayer Information
Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation is the technically not the first installment of the series to have online capability, but is the first game to have widely accessible online play. Ace Combat 6's online play is categorized into four game types. Siege Battles consist of two teams of up to four players each, attempting to destroy specified targets while the opposing team defends those targets against any attacks. Team Battles are essential team death matches between two teams of up to eight people. Battle Royales are matches which pit up to sixteen players against one another. The final game mode, CO-OP Battles, holds up to four people which acts as a team to complete various missions against the CPU. These missions are not directly from the campaign mode, but do take place at locations in Ace Combat 6 and are specially setup for online play with more than one player involved.
Along with online modes, content may be downloaded from XBOX Live Market Place. These items include gamer themes, avatars, trailers, downloadable maps and aircraft paint schemes that change the stats of standard aircraft, giving every downloadable aircraft their own unique characteristics. For more information concerning downloadable content, see the XBL Downloadable Content area.
Characters:
There are seven characters who tell the story in pre-rendered cut-scenes.
Melissa Herman. The wife of an unnamed Emmerian pilot. Her name is Melissa. She lost her husband in the invasion. Her daughter, Matilda, was saved from Estovakia's initial attack and they managed to meet each other near the end of war.
Lt. Col. Voychek. One of Estovakia's ace pilots, becoming an intelligence officer after sustaining a career-ending injury. He would later help Emmeria’s forces to destroy Chandelier, the Estovakian superweapon.
Sgt. Louis McKnight. A tank sergeant, presumably Emmerian, who is a refugee for sometime. He is seen later in the war participating in operations to stop an Estovakian advance.
Ludmila Tolstaya. An Estovakian woman who is the sweetheart of an Estovakian Air Force pilot. She rushes to the battlefield to be at the side of her lover.
Ilya Pasternak. An aggressive Estovakian ace pilot belonging to Estovakia's most elite squadron, Strigon Team. He was once the leader of Vampire Team, but after Col. Pasternak was forced to give up his position, Pasternak was given leadership of Strigon Team. He came into conflict with Garuda Team multiple times throughout the war.
Toscha Mijasik. A young, talented pilot of Estovakian Air Force. He is also a close friend of Voycheck and Pasternak as well as Ludmila's lover.
Marcus Rampart. Garuda Team's number two, known as Shamrock. He is very loyal to Emmeria and is willing to do everything to save Emmeria and his family.
Return Line and Front Line Landings
The return line function introduced in Ace Combat 04 and utilized in Ace Combat Zero, has made its complete return in Ace Combat 6. Each campaign mission has a return line allowing players to return to an airbase or aircraft carrier, in order to replenish their ammunition. A new capability to land on frontline air bases has also been introduced to the series. If an air base is present during a mission and is under allied control, the player can land on this air base, rather than fly across the Return Line. Though convinent, the player can be attacked as they are approaching the runway, as they are deaccelerating on the runway or as they are taking off.
Other Information:
- The enemy Ace Squadron the player will encounter is known as the "Strigon" Team. For more information, see our article on the 370th Aviation Regiment, 9th Tactical Fighter Squadron "Strigon".
- For the first time in AC, Missions will have checkpoints in them. Meaning that players will respawn at one of these checkpoints if they are shot down or crash, rather than have to play the entire mission again.
- All aircraft cockpits are completely viewable for the first time in the series. Gauges inside of the aircraft are functional and give accurate information.
- This game is an XBOX 360 exclusive.
- The game was produced by Ace Combat 04's Director Hiroyuki Ichiyanagi and directed by Ace Combat 04's Planner and Ace Combat 5's Lead Planner, Natsuki Isaki.

ACS is a anarchy where you can get away with any stupid comment, if you like ACS fine but you're wrong. No matter what logic you come up with. It is only "fun" in an online world were these conditions of anonymity exist and people can escape their lives and play alpha pseudo intellectual.

same here - the reason why I bought an PS3 was because had a PS1 as my first console (I dont count in the Super Nintendo^^) and played AC1-3 on it and then I moved to xbox because of its better graphics and hacking/cracking ability but then I started to miss AC and I bought myself a PS3 again instead of a Xbox 360 - and what happens?? Oh the irony...

Shouldn't it be Voycheck that gave up his position and then Pasternak took over?
