OVERVIEW:
The Whidbey Island-class Landing Dock Ship (LSD) is a class of amphibious warships in the United States Navy. Introduced in 1985, this class of amphibious vessel features a massive well deck for the transport of four LCAC hovercraft for landing Marines ashore.
