AWACS "Thunderhead"
AC5 - Osean AWACS Controller

Personal Information:
Name: Unknown
Rank: Unknown
Nationality: Osean
Age: Unknown
Sex: Male
Status: Alive (as of December 7th, 2010)

Biography:
Thunderhead is the callsign for an Osean Airborne Warning And Control System (AWACS) controller that accompanies the 108th Tactical Fighter Squadron on all of their missions, providing the four with information on battlefield conditions, their objectives, even directing other pilots towards separate objectives.

Following the accusations that the 108th were really spies, Thunderhead was responsible for directing and vectoring the 8492nd Aggressor Squadron to shoot them down. After the 8492nd lost the Wardog Squadron over the Solo Islands, Thunderhead gave Swordsman, the commander of VFA-206 authorization to shoot them down.

In terms of demeanor, Thunderhead was usually calm, unless battlefield conditions stressed him to the point of breaking down (which happened over Port St. Hewlett). Him and Chopper shared a rather strained relationship; Thunderhead wished for calmness in battle, while Chopper filled the radio network with chatter. However, it has been shown that he did indeed like Chopper, which was shown after Chopper crashed his aircraft into the November City Stadium.

Wrong. Thunderhead isn't a member of Wardog, he just monitors them. Plus, where are those OADF emblems, eh?

I don't think AWACS Thunderhead even has a squadron in the game, unlike the monitor in ACZ. He does not appear in cutscenes either, but, given the tail on AWACS Oka Nieba's craft (in 'Aces' cutscene), it would possibly be plain, an OADF script and other recognition markings excepted.

He was talking about Thunderhead, not Oka Nieba. Oka Nieba was used as a referance.

In most Military units, the AWACS is NOT part of the fighter Squadron, they are is sperate units, usually in their own squadron and they attached to a particular area of operation not a particular unit.

Actually, I don't think AWACS Thunderhead has a tail emblem at all, if Oka Nieba did not.

i beg to differ, you see his E-2C on "Rendezvous". If you observe closely, you see his plane flying around the 3 carriers. Somehow, he also survived the Burst missile attack.

Really? If you play the mission several times, sometimes Snow really is the last man standing. But I have seen the AWACS too, even crashing into it when the mission was nearly done.

So I have reason to believe that Thunderhead was another AWACS present in the area.

They're rarely even in the same Wings as fighters, the only exception that I know of being at Elmendorf. They're in totally separate Air Control Wings.

That's an OMDF unit that gets destroyed over the course of the level.

I know, but the E-2 still survives though. Check the friendlies when the Burst missiles are gone.

So it must be thunderhead. It's the only AWACS in the area.

An AWACS doesn't need to be "in the area" to control friendly forces
