An AWACS doesn't need to be "in the area" to control friendly forces

Agreed. Therefore, Thunderhead is not visible in any mission on the map, as are Sky Eye, Oka Nieba (except 'Aces' in AC5, I think) and the rest.

Why is that, Buffalo?

Well, if I were in an important command vessel with no form of defense against hostile aircraft, I wouldn't want to be in the skirmish. Look at all the E-767s that got annihilated by Wardog - Thunderhead is being smart by staying out of sight.

We don't know if Thunderhead is on a E-767, an E-3 Sentry, or a E-2 Hawkeye...

The E-2 were probably just radar picket. Grossly ineffective one while I'm at it.

I realize that, but all the enemy AWACS in AC5 were E-767s...

Ok... enemy planes aren't exactly friendly planes... do you see us using Su-35s?

Removed the fake picture, updated the format, and did some re-writing (sorry Heinkel).

We don't know what aircraft Thunderhead is in (although if it were my guess, he'd be in an E-2C Hawkeye, due to the naval theme of AC5).

Well, considering the only jammers in-game are E-767s, we can only speculate on that.

Since every AWACS (Sky Eye, the Erusian one in Shattered Skies, the Yuke one in Desert Arrow, Oka Nieba, Eagle Eye, Ghost Eye, Snake Pit) so far has used an E-767, I'm sticking with that.

Same here, I doubt if they use something different then a E767.

Well, there was an E-2C in the game.

Just saying, it fits with the Naval theme.

True, but that E-2C gets bagged by the ballistic missiles. You, the rest of Wardog, Snow and the Kestrel are the only survivors.

I know, but the E-2 still survives though. Check the friendlies when the Burst missiles are gone.

So it must be thunderhead. It's the only AWACS in the area.

It eventually survives but it is an another AWACS unit launched by a carrier
