ON A REALISTIC STANDPOINT:
Never mind the fuel, the costs to build ONE airship would equal 100 B-2 Spirits at best. Building an entire fleet would send the global economy into the worst recession in history.

LONG STORY SHORT:
This is Ace Combat after all: nations of the early 21st century already have access to village-sized railguns, mass-production laser technology & airships that fly disregarding the laws of physics. Even Strangereal's Haiti can have a flying carrier whenever they wish.

yea but a fleet of them?

It wouldn't be troublesome for an Strangereal nation to build an entire heavy command cruiser fleet. Just look at Estovakia: they managed to build a mothership and its escort fleet in the middile of a civil war that killed their economy dead. Don't bother asking about Andre Olivieri and the Orgois through, because Haruhi knows how & where did the Agent 47 lookalike get all the funding to construct the Orgoi fleet, the Spiridii, the Balaur cannons AND the Varcolaci.

It could not be money at all, ever heard of a Resource based Economy? Ace Combat could possibly use this idea on how countries use their resources in this matter, the value of money means nothing in a literal sense. Especially in times of total war. WWII is one such example of a resource based economy because money didn't matter anymore, it was all about doing whatever you can to win the war and whatever they can get their hands on to build equipment, regardless of the losses.

Consider the following examples: At the beginning of World War II the US had a mere 600 or so first-class fighting aircraft. We rapidly overcame this short supply by turning out more than 90,000 planes a year. The question at the start of World War II was: Do we have enough funds to produce the required implements of war? The answer was no, we did not have enough money, nor did we have enough gold; but we did have more than enough resources. It was the available resources that enabled the US to achieve the high production and efficiency required to win the war. Unfortunately this is only considered in times of war.

partly having a major interest in norse mythology, partly having access to google search. :)

interesting fact, Gandr was one of the cognates used in the name "Gandalf", which was originally a dwarven name from the Prose edda..oddly, meaning something like "wand elf"

Take a "Gandr" at that! They look like the plastic scale models you can get at stores.

I just realized something. Is the Gandr (and Gleipnir) as big as the XB-0?
