Overview:
During the Aurelia-Leasath War, Leasath began to use so-called "scorched earth" tactics; destroying any captured arms production facilities. In particular, a series of factories in the Monte Breeze Industrial Zone were slated for demolition as the Leasathian Army retreated.

Using these mines to set "booby traps" for any recapturing Aurelian Forces, they ensured that any developing arms technology - in particular the upgrades to the Meson Cannons surrounding Griswall - would not fall into Aurelian hands.

When the Aurelian Liberation Corps (ALC) learned of the abandoned factories, they set out to retrieve any weapons to aid in their self-proposed mission to recapture Griswall, the capital of Aurelia. However, Aurelian intelligence learned of charges set inside, and ordered Gryphus One to destroy the mines before the ALC's captured train could reach them.
