THE Z.O.E.

Background:
Equipped with the most advanced fighters of the rebels' arsenal, they were the aces of the coup forces that tried to take control over the Usean Continent taking advantage of their leaders' temporary abscence.

The name Z.O.E. comes from an experimental A.I. program that enabled unmanned control of fighters. The Rebels managed to get their hands on this technology and used it to highly improve their air power. During the coup, it was confirmed that the Coup Forces loaded five planes with the Z.O.E. program; an F-14 Tomcat, an F/A-18E Super Hornet, an YF-22, an F-15S, and a higly-advanced prototype fighter only known as the ADF-01 "Falken". Z.O.E. can also refer to the Z.O.E. project which created the A.I. program and the ADF-01 prototype fighter.

Z.O.E. Squadron Alignment
First Line Pilots:

The very first line of this fearsome squadron were the called Z.O.E. Pilots, composed by the five "leaders" of the hostile air forces. Actually, these advanced fighters were loaded with the experimental Z.O.E. AI Program, which enabled unmanned control of these aircraft.

The planes controlled by the Z.O.E. program were painted red to distinguish them from other fighters and the other top aces of the Z.O.E. Squadron. This program had modifications every time it flew combat and later in the war, the Z.O.E. could perform advanced ACMs such as the Cobra.

Aircraft: ADF-01 "Falken"
Rank: Z.O.E. "Commander"

- The "supreme leader" of the Z.O.E. Squadron; this advanced prototype aircraft was the last line of defense of the Rebel Fortress's defenses. Able to perform stunning air-combat manuverments and also, it was the only aircraft in all the Coup Forces that was equiped with a weapon system that enable it to lock-on targets at its six-o-clock and shoot them down.

Aircraft: F-15S
Rank: Z.O.E. "General"

- The "General" of the Z.O.E. Squadron. This enhanched aircraft was stationed in the air base of St. Ark. Its duty was to protect the Coup HQ located in the capitol city of North Point.

Aircraft: YF-22
Rank: Z.O.E. "Colonel"

- This advanced stealth fighter, loaded with the experimental Z.O.E. program, was in charge of defending strategic energy-supply facilities under control of the Coup Forces.

Aircraft: F/A-18E Super Hornet
Rank: Z.O.E. "Major"

- This multirole, Z.O.E.-controlled aircraft was deployed to the Rebels' Naval Forces in the front.

Aircraft: F-14D Super Tomcat
Rank: Z.O.E. "Captain"

- In charge of the air defenses of the Rebels' ship-building facility in Axel Bay.

Just pointing out a typo here, shouldn't the 'Mayor' be Major instead for the F/A-18E Z.O.E?

Do we have any confirmation on where the heck we got this info on Z.O.E.'s being AI controlled? I was under the impression that the Japanese version was translated directly for the US version.

It seems to me that someone along the line might have been mixing AC2 and AC3US.....

Fail.

Those are the nozzles of the F-110, not the TF30.

F-14A, note the nozzles.

F-110's nozzles.

It's not an A... but here's the question...

Is it a Bravo or a Delta?

It's a Delta. I have the NamCollection on PS2 and in the data for the F-14 it was based on the D model. I also hate not knowing what Z.O.E. really means.

I played Ace Combat 2 a bunch of times, when I fought the F-22 Raptor Z.O.E. the last time, I was flying an F-4 Phantom II, and crashed three times while trying to chase that Raptor. In the fourth attempt, I managed to shoot down that F-22 before focusing on the enemy SAMs and AA Guns around the power plants.

If you dont mind me saying, I (used to the modern FALKEN) think the ZOE ADF-01 looks like shit.

Apparently, the ADF-01 is based on the Andromeda, the player vehicle from an earlier Namco game, "Cyber Commando". I'm not entirely sure, though.

Which is weird as the Andromeda and the ADF-01 don't have many similarities besides the body shape, and that's where it pretty much ends. The leg joints in the rear look like the exhausts on the FALKEN, but the body is blue and its vertical wings are canted outward. Too bad a home conversion was never done unlike Cyber Sled.

Which one? ZOE flew:

F-14D SuperTomcat
F/A-18E SuperHornet
YF-23 BlackWidow (F-35 Lightning II in the Japanese version ,YF-22 in AC2 original)
F-15S/MTD
ADF-01

Besides the aircraft being painted red, it could pull off some insane maneuvering.
