Overview:
The ASF-X Shinden II (震電II, "Magnificent Lightning"), known simply as F-X during development is a downloadable content aircraft for Ace Combat: Assault Horizon. It is designed by Kawamori Shoji, the father of the "Variable Aerospace Fighters" from the Macross Universe. The tips of the wings and the shape of the tail assembly change depending on speed of the aircraft. Furthermore, it is outfitted with a unique tandem twin-engine design, with the lower engine (located further inside the aircraft) being capable of pivoting to provide VTOL capabilities. This engine design provides the fighter with unrivaled stability, allowing it to fly at very low speeds without stalling. In the situation of an engine stall, the Shinden II will act like a glider, as opposed to simply dropping out of the air. The thrust vectoring engine allows it to perform unique counter maneuvers, an example of which is using its lower engine to propel itself above and past a chasing enemy.

The F-X is confirmed to be a DLC fighter, not a in-game superfighter by Project Nagase twitter. My god, why are people making articles over something like this? The design might not even be final and you don't know 90% of the info on it.

Interesting design. Definitely looks like Macross.

Speaking of Macross, I've seen people in forums saying that many original AC aircraft resemble Macross fighters. Food for thought, much?

XFA-27? It's got sweep wings, but it ain't close to anything from Macross.
X-02? Somewhat VF-19-ish.
FALKEN? Nope.
Morgan? Nope.
CFA-44? Too plain.
Fenrir? Somewhat resembles The Sturmvogel II, but looks a lot closer to Yukikaze.
Varcolac? Penis guitar thing, Firefox rip.
Delphinus or anything Neucom? No, too radical to be something from Macross.

Always thought the XFA-27 was similar to the original VF-1 Valkyries.

It looks like a blend of the Cariburn, and the Morgan.

I dunno, the XFA-27 looks a lot sleeker than the VF-1, plus, the Valkyrie is missing the canards and the X tail stabilizers/ruddervators or whatever it is that only XFA-27 has.

The F-14 is more similar to the VF-1 then the XFA-27, considering the VF-1 is based off the F-14.

Nice find! I couldn't help but notice, when I translated the JP AC site, I saw there were two fighters being designed. No kidding.

DLC Aircraft? *Yawns* Crap, why don't they just make this as an unlockable? It's okay however, if the extra paints are DLCs, though.

@Rodd and Tazuren: Cut it off. Both of you. Seriously!
