Overview:
The Lockheed C-5 galaxy is one of the world's largest cargo aircraft. Designed in the mid 1960s, the C-5 was the result of a study for a heavy transport to replace older aircraft in the USAF inventory. The inital C-5As that entered service were found to have serious structural problems and in some cases, over-heating; but by 1980, C-5As were being fitted with newer, stronger wings. The improved C-5B first entered service in 1986; the "B" variant includes all the previous improvements, with additonal system modifications to enhance reliablilty.

Powered by four TF39 turbofan engines, the C-5 Galaxy can reach virtually any spot on the globe with a 769,000 lb payload. The C-5s cargo compartment is 121 feet long, 13.5 feet high, and 19 feet wide (37 m by 4.1 m by 5.8 m), or just over 31,000 ft (880 m). It can accommodate up to 36 463L master pallets or a mix of palletized cargo and vehicles. The nose and aft doors can open the full width and height of the compartment to permit faster and easier loading; the ramps are full width at each end for loading double rows of vehicles.

It's kind of sad that the model in ACX has more polygons than the one in 5.

The C-5 is similar in appearance to its smaller sister transport, the C-141 Starlifter

You should see the interiors. The flight compartments are near-identical.

Is this also in Operation Katina? I think I saw something similar to this guy while playing it. It was a big plane, a C-something, and it took a LOT of firepower to bring it down...

Great. I wonder if they're as sturdy in real life as they are in the game...In Katina, those C-5's were RUGGED.

It took me several shots to take them down. Then I ran out of missiles. XD

I like to use a combination of missile, SP weapon, and gun fire to bring the armored Galaxys down.

By the way, did anyone notice that the C-5s in op. Katina have Yuke markings?

HAH. If you only knew.

To be fair, it has proven capable of surviving shoulder-launched SAM strikes, if only because the damage was contained to one engine out of four.

Yeah, I don't really understand why Namco couldn't go in and just change the markings...I mean, how much work does that truly entail...? I just don't get it... blink.gif

What you think is something simple, but when it comes to programming and rendering for simulations, it actually takes a considerable amount of time. And time is money.

Really? ...I would never have guessed. Maybe they just didn't have the disk space for it or something. Though, I wouldn't think that a simple change in airframe logos would be a glutton of disk space, but then again, what do I know? I'm no programmer.

It have nothing to do with disk space, it's re-writing the code of the design and or render. Afterall, it's not like a 2 dimensional drawing, you have to develop the code for the 3-D rendering that will eventually be imported into the game coding sequences.
