Overview:
The MIM-104 Patriot is a mobile SAM (Surface-to-Air) Missile system developed by the Raytheon company as a replacement for the older Nike Hercules SAM system as well as the MIM-23 Hawk as the U.S. military's medium tactical defense system. In addition, the Patriot has been given the function as an anti-ballistic missile (ABM) system. Apart from the U.S. Army, the Patriot is also operated by the armed forces of Taiwan, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Poland, and the Republic of Korea (ROK).
