Personally I have only spent a short amount of time playing it but from what I have sampled the game is amazing. The sensation of speed when low flying is something that I love and the intensity of DFM is a great new feature as well. Also painting my aircraft is turning out to be awesome! Kudos to Namco Bandai :)

I'm assuming you're talking about Ace Combat Assault Horizon, so I'll go ahead and answer your question. I really like almost everything about the game, including the story. (which I don't think bears any resemblance to Modern Warfare, except for the fact that there's Russians in the game.)

The only irk I have is that Free Missions don't play all the way. The cinematics make the missions for me and it cuts right to the action and ends right where the next cinema starts. Other than all that I am having fun with what I've seen so far.

Boring story and crappy missions, there's also a plane limitation for story missions (This annyoing feature isn't in free missions, thank god). Other than that, great game, online is fairly balanced if you're good enough (There are MiG-21s wiping the floor with a roomfull of Raptors and Berkuts). QAAM isn't godly anymore (In a sense, it's good because the normal missiles have shitty homing), it's on the level of the normal missiles in previous games.

Are there ace pilots (ie. Zipang, Mrkos) in ACAH? As well, how does Markov handle in combat? Is he a hard-to-hit bastard like the Strigons? (no spoilers, please, just a few details)

No, there are no named Aces in this game. Old Ace colors are unlocked by playing online and earning the callsigns.

About Markov, I don't know since I haven't fought him yet.

There are no Named aces in the game, but Markov is a son of a bitch to shoot down. He's easy as hell to hit, but he takes fucking forever to kill.

No Aces? Me sad :(
They increased the replay value of the game by trying to get all the aces for all paintschemes...now it's just online grinding :(

Online is fun. Spent the whole afternoon playing it up with the guys over at ACS, Ace Pilot every time.

@Flakbird: If you like generic stories about Russians betraying you and threatening to take over the world, then sure. OMG Staglishov ran over to the other side! OMG! I SO SURPRISED! That aside, AC-130 missions drag on. A2A missions just sends waves and waves of targets at you. A2G does the same thing. I only find a few missions good.

Before I consider throwing my 60 bucks into the pit. I'd like to know how many mission the SP mode has? & How many MP maps along with gamemodes are available?

PS3 Demo was average to me. I wonder if the full package is worth it? Also with the lack of Aces and Below Average Generic storyline... it really turns the fun off :/ though If theres enough gameplay in both game modes. I may considering getting it for the hell of it.

AC-130 missions? I thought there was only one. And, have you played all the levels?

@Roaches: *SPOILER* There are 16 missions total. On the Xbox, at least. *SPOILER*

Spoiler tags man.

No, there was only 1 AC-130 mission as far as I know, typo. I've played around 10 levels so far, and what I've read from others have led me to believe that it's just another generic "Russians are bad" story.

The Russians joined the rebel forces as mercenaries. But, I will admit, it does seem like every enemy is Russian... And, about the spoiler tags, I'll go and give them a quick fix. :)

The game was amazing, I just beat it. The story is definitely not the stereotypical "Russians are badguys" thing, you actually are allied with the Russians and help them take back Moscow from a military coup force. Markov's back-story was also incredibly sad too, it kind of made sense of why he was so insane.

This game takes quite the turn from the traditional Ace Combat series, but its certainly a great game in itself and hopefully it can bring in enough interest in order to revitalize the series. Because let's be honest, Ace Combat 6 was a terrible flop and I actually wasn't expecting Namco to consider even making another game afterwards.

One problem I have noticed is that it is October 14 and my F-4 voucher isn't working, hopefully it does soon....

There's a squadron that betrays you. Big Bear 1 to 10, x10 MiG-29.

Yeah, just beat the entire game. Markov is too easy, they need to go into detail for some stuff. Last 2 missions were epic though.
