Is there a way to set it to control via keyboard or gamepad? Having to use the touch screen with my mouse makes it incredibly hard to shoot and move at the same time.

Open up the Emu go to View then scroll down to Options then on the new window which popped up click on the Keymap and viola! Just don't use button which correspond to the Emu shortcuts lol other wise you will end up with about 100 screenshots.

The Keypad pop up isn't doing anything. Could you be more descriptive on how you got the game to respond to the Keypad rather then the touch screen?

Well it depends on which version of the game you are using, I use the "Ace_combat_northern_wings_240x320_n95" version because it allows you to use either a game controller, keypad or keyboard. While the "Ace_combat_northern_wings_360x640" version is for touch screen enabled devices eg; iPhones etc.

That works great, now only one remaining question. What button do I push to go back a menu/screen? Having to restart because I can't leave the Achievement menu get's a tad old.

Ah sorry about the long reply I've been ill since xmas. Anyhow the best bet for you to do is just don't go on that menu I suppose. The game was created with shoddy java coding so expect a few bugs.
