OVERVIEW:
The XFA-36A Game is General Resource LTD's ultimate fighter. The Game is capable of nearly anything its pilot could imagine. Its airframe, like its avionics and weapons systems, is extremely advanced and uses a unique tailless system, supplemented by vertical wingtips and 3D thrust vectoring. As the Game reaches supersonic speeds, the wingtips pivot to a 90-degree angle to improve stability and manoeuvrability during high-speed flight.

The XFA-36A was first deployed by the General Resource Defense Force in mid-2040, immediately preceding GR's major offensive operations. It was the XFA-36A which performed the famous "Operation: Hit and Run" and led the GRDF attack on Port Edwards. Ouroboros operatives also captured and utilized these advanced aircraft. They were deployed sporadically during their operations, but were heavily used during the attack on Megafloat. The UPEO also deploy XFA-36A in the non-JP version of AC3.

I have a question here. How can it have 3-D thrust vectoring? The vanes which move the jet exhaust are basically identical to the CFA-44 Nosferatu, which can only vector it's exhaust up and down. With 3D vectoring you have to move the whole exhaust nozzle, and from the pictures here it doesn't appear to have a nozzle per say. I could be wrong, as I havn't played the game that this plane appears in.

The two vertical vanes move to the sides to adjust the exhaust to the sides.

I see them but woulding that cause the exhaust to go in a more upward direction, as they are slanted at an angle?

It is, but the lower "panel" can block the upwards air and make it turn. Think of it going diagonally, and then blocked by the lower panel. Not very efficient maybe..
The nozzle looks like the ones in X-31, only a big bigger, so i guess there's some i-dunno-what physics to make it turn..

I've done some reading on Thrust Vectoring tech and for 3D vectoring the whole nozzle has to turn to do so. 2 and 3 vanes only allow for 2D vectoring.

Maybe that particular screenshot is shown as an ascending shot. The angle of the plane itself in relation to the horizon would support that.

Working in conjunction with each other, that design probably could work. In order to yaw, the two top vanes could direct thrust in that direction and slightly down while the lower one slightly corrects that downward slant.
