Tu-95 'Bear'
- Multi-Role Strategic Bomber -

- Tu-95 Image A -

Origin: (Real World)
Russia

Games Featured In:
Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

Operators:
Erusian Air Force (Grey Squadron)
Russian Air Force

Overview:
Though the bomber was first designed in 1951, it has been kept in service in the Russian Air Force and Navy because of its immense adaptability to a variety of roles. The Tu-95 Bear and its variants are capable of performing roles such as Anti-Ship Warfare (Tu-142), intercontinental range conventional and nuclear bombing, and various reconnaissance roles. The Tu-95 Bear is often considered the most successful Russian bomber design ever created. The Tu-19 Bear is the only strategic bomber in service within any Air Force today that uses turbo-prop engines to travel extraordinarily long distances at speeds less than comparable of modern day jet engines. The Tu-95 and Tu-142 Bear bombers have become known throughout the world by making various excursions in the Bering Sea, the Arctic Circle and near or in foreign air space. On many occasssions, fighters from Norway, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Japan Iceland, Greenland, and Canada have been scrambled to intercept or shadow the Bears as they neared their national air space.

I'd say so too; much like the old B-52, it will be around till the end of time.

Apparently, when asked about the engine sound of the Tu-95, one Russian airman replied, "T'aint nothin' but a bear." That is merely legend, however.

"T'aint nothin'?" That doesn't sound very Russian, sir.

More like NATO naming conventions.

Either a translation (the airman could have been using VERY INFORMAL slang), or that was all the English the airman knew during this alleged interview. Keep in mind that it is only myth, though.

Added ACAH to the games it's in, since by now it's fairly obvious by the trailers.

FEAF Tu-95:

Done in VERY EASY for safety reason. Could be a good Image B since we lacked the screenshot of the Bear in-game. Can we add this?

Hidden for plot spoilers.

Spoiler

And these bastards are of an entirely new breed, to boot: they move fast, they spam flares and tank a crapton of damage. At least their propellers are vulnerable: shoot off both props in a wing, and the bomber spins out of control.

And the best part? At the end of the mission (minor spoilers ahead),

Spoiler

Oh yeah, I remember that scene. Still yet to reach that mission though.

And that's the mission where you get the trophy "Checking in" too, right?

I have. For the one's confused, there's a good video showing you how (Not by me):

But actually, it is allowed to hold on L1 and slow down as much and still get the trophy (I play on PS3)
