Background
The 8th Air Divison, 28th Tactical Fighter Squadron "Garuda" has apparently been around for a while, presumably in a larger formation. The current leader, Talisman, was assigned to it in 2013, and, between that time and 2015, became the squad leader. On August 30th, 2015, the 28th gained a new member, Marcus Lampart, callsign Shamrock. They fended off the early Estovakian assault until finally being pushed out by a joint Strigon Team/Aigaion Assault. They regrouped at Vitoze on Khesed Island, and pushed all Estovakian forces from the island, making it the first all Emmerian territory gained in the war. Afterward, they assisted the landing at Rargom beach, and covered Emmerian Ground Force soldiers as they pushed all the way to Gracemeria. There, the 28th faced their greatest challenge as, after they secured Gracemeria, the new leader of Strigon team, Ilya Pasternak, and the Estovakian's newest superplane launched a one-man assault. He was eventually shot down, claiming that Estovakia had won.

That night, Shamrock revealed to Talisman that his wife and his daughter had died during the Estovakian invasion, and was heartbroken. He began wondering if he should turn in his wings when the Estovakian super weapon Chandelier launched a cruise missile assault. Shamrock and Talisman destroyed all of the cruise missiles, and went on to destroy the Chandelier.

Shamrock was shot down while gathering intelligence on the back up cooling unit, and was medically discharged of the Air Force due to his disabilities. Talisman on the other hand still serves with the Emmerian Air Force in the new era of peace.

umm guys just a small bit of military lingo..... when you get drummed out of service it's a BAD thing, what happened is more then likely he was medically discharged under honorable circumstances.

Garuda flew F-16Cs like Windhover. But the Squadron was decimated from the NIMBUS strikes on Gracemaria, reducing it's combat strength to just Talisman and Shamrock. (Hence Garuda Team, a Team is a 2 man part of a 4 man flight.)

Also, Shamrock is still serving in the EAF, he's just not flying because of his injury. (Probably placed on Inactive Reserve until he heals up.)

As hard as this is to say, I think Taz is right about that. They are never actually referred to as Garuda Squadron, much like those flying with you in AC4's first mission.

Yelling doesn't prove your point at all, nor does it make you correct. Avalanche is engaging over the Fleet and Windhover is engaging north over the bay. The F-16Cs following you are Garuda Squadron.
