Kirwin Island
- Fjord Island -

OADF fighter landing at air base in Kirwin Island (12/8/2010)

Geography:
Kirwin Island is part of the Osea continent, located at the north side of the continent, in exact coordinate 173゚12'24"N 52゚32'11"E. The island is facilitated with a small air base. The ground is entirely covered with snow, with cold water around the island. It has several small range of narrow hills surrounding the air base and almost every part of the island.

Circum-Pacific War
In 2010, after the opening weeks of the war, this was the place where Kestrel decided to station itself and perform missions after the former Wardog Squadron was being trailed and pretend shot down by Capt. Snow of the Kestrel. Apparently they were saved by Sea Goblin and taken to Kestrel and heading to Kirwin Island. After they captured a cargo ship from South Belkan company containing various naval aircraft, Razgriz was formed and taking off of Kestrel, heading straight to Waldreich, where the Stier Castle is located. Along with Sea Goblin, they carried out a successful rescue operation of their president. They came back to Kirwin Island after completing the mission.

Kind of an odd place to put such a small base. Considering its location, I'm guessing it was probably used more during the Belkan war for strategic purposes, but then mostly abandoned afterwards...just an assumption.

When you're landing, it looks like that whole base is on a ice sheet.

Infernal, I think your assumption may be correct or it is also possible that the base was built after the Belkan War.

I can't figure out waht real strategic purpose it would hold. It's actually a considerable distance from Anywhere in Belka. blink.gif

Well, looking at the map, it seems like the only sea route to the northern and western parts of Osea would be through the northwest waters of Anfang sea, up past the Rowan peninsula...so I guess it could be to guard against Belkan shipping lanes and such?

I doubt it would be of any defense against Estovakian forces...considering its way too north for it to be on any intercept point...since the meat of Osea is farther south.

You know what, its for attacks on polar bears in Wellow. Thats it. wink.gif

Cursed neutral polar bears. No telling what evil plot they'll unfold next... everyone knows they were the terroristS that tried to attack G7 in Wellow. But ever since that thing about hunting them went down in AC5... the Polar Bear Terrorist issue has been hotly debated. laugh.gif

I don't even know why they would put a facility on Kirwin Island. Tactically, its a bit out of the way.

Look at the Strangereal map, you'll see that it does the same thing as Sand Island, defend Osea. The Kirwin Islands defends NORTHERN Osea, while Sand island defends SOUTHERN Osea. For Yuktobania to invade the northern part of Osea, they would need to take Kirwin base.

But why? They could totally bypass it and go straight to Osea in one Straight line. That is exactly what they tried to do in "Front Line" in AC5. There is no need to loop all around to take Kirwin. All it is defending anyway is ice.

Like I said, its probably there just to be there.
