Weapon Information
Purpose: Air Defense System
Manufacturer(s): The Republic of Leasath
Date Started: 2020
Date Completed: 2020
Date Destroyed: 2020

Armaments: Eight Meson Particle Beam Cannon
Combat Range: Unknown
Energy Source: Unknown

Height: Unknown
Width: Unknown
Length: Unknown
Weight: Unknown

OVERVIEW:
The Meson Cannon, built to defend the Aurelian capital, Griswall, consists of a battery of 8 turrets mounted on high towers. Depending on the player's actions beforehand, the cannons may be fitted with M.B.S.R (Meson Beam Stabilizing Regulator), changing the firing pattern to a concentrated beam that does major damage. If the player prevents delivery of the M.B.S.R, the Meson Cannon will fire rapid bursts of energy. The Meson Cannon is protected by several SAM sites, several YF-23A fighters and tanks. The Atmos Ring, upon which the Meson Cannon is built, completely isolates downtown Griswall from the rest of the city, preventing ground forces from entering. This is also to protect Gaiuss Tower, which is located in Downtown and is the central command of Leasath. Diego Gaspar Navarro, commanding officer of Leasath forces in Aurelia, fled from here when Gryphus Squadron, led by Gryphus One, national hero and ace, single-handedly destroyed the Meson Cannon and all enemy forces in the area.

[nitpick]

"- Leasath Laser Air Defense Network -"

"eight Laser Cannon"

Presumably, some of you are already aware of this, and nobody had the time to correct the copypasta from old!ES. However, it's not a laser cannon. It has nothing to do with lasers. Hell, it's in the name- Meson Cannon. A meson is a type of subatomic particle; laser beams, being light, which in turn is made up of photons, are entirely different from a stream of mesons.

To me, the Atmos Ring reminds me of Stonehenge from AC4. When I first saw it, I thought Griswall was built on top of the remains of Stonehenge. Turns out, I was off by an ocean & two continents.

It's like this: Stonehenge + Excalibur = Meson Cannon.

To me, the Meson Cannon was the easiest superweapon. All you had to do was fly around the Atmos Ring at 600mph picking off the cannons two missiles at a time.

Hey, someone should add into the article; that the Meson Cannon can't track targets moving more than Mach 1 speed. The cannons however, if destroyed, divert all of their energy into the few remaining cannons, creating more destructive energy.

Also anyone notice that when fitted with MBSRs the canoon can't track you're inside the Atmos Ring at 700Ft?

Actually, lower than 1000 ft. And the Meson Cannon can't track targets moving faster than 600 mph.

Yeah, and also, you should add TLS as weaponary too, for when it has the MBSR mods.

Or take the Fregata and use LASMs.

No. The Meson cannon is a paticle beam weapon not a directed energy weapon. Even with the MBSR on it's still a particle beam weapon.

While Taz is right about it not being a TLS, he's slightly off on the reason. A Particle Beam Weapon is a type of directed energy weapon just like a laser.

The difference between the MBSR & the TLS is what the beam is made of. The MBSR is a Meson Particle Beam Weapon while the TLS is a LASER, Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. One has mass, the other is just focused light.

Why is this in the Other Weaponry section? It's a energy weapon and as such, should be in the Energy Weapon section.

I see what you mean DLR, but I riase this point. If a projectile has mass, then it makes it matter. So, if the Meson Beam has mass, then it is matter, and therefore not an energy weapon because energy does not have mass. (Or we could call it a Kenetic Energy Weapon and be done with it. laugh.gif)

The Meson Cannon is a PBW or Particle Beam Weapon. PBWs are hard to tell if they are Directed Energy or not.
