OVERVIEW:
The UI-4053 is an airship that was made by UPEO to act as a Mobile Command and Control Center, Aircraft Carrier and ECM Support Asset, but stolen by Ouroboros and made it their HQ. It is powered by two large high-powered jet engines on the sides and a giant turbofan in the back. It can launch and retrieve aircraft from its rear launch ports. It has a defense system which consists of four mini-guns (Vulcan/AA Gun) and an anti-aircraft missile launcher. Its defenses also include many escort aircraft which commonly patrol the skies around it.

The Sphryna is capable of launching and recovering aircraft. Within the underside of the aircraft, near its nose, a small-high powered catapult has been installed. In the rear of the aircraft, a large hangar area was installed. During recovery of an aircraft this section opens and large magnetic arms extend in order to latch onto the aircraft and pull it within the UI-4053's hangar area.

The Sphryna is used as an ECM platform, in support of SARF and general UPEO operations in 2040, during the Corporate War. After one operation which resulted in the deception of the SARF, the destruction of GR civilian facilities and the blame placed on Neucom Inc., the Sphryna was stolen by the Ouroboros and became their HQ.

NEU, SARF and GR aces came to the UI-4053 for their own reasons and joined the Ouroboros. Abyssal Dision, now an AI which led the group, inhabited the UI-4053's systems and directed all Ouroboros operations. NEU ace Cynthia Fitzgerald also joined the group for personal reasons.

MULTIPLE PATH(S):
The UI-4053 has multiple events which happen according to what path is taken in the Ace Combat 03 (JP) version of the game.

Following GRDF Ace Abyssal Dision, the Ouroboros opening operations began in Port Edwards, killing NEU Officials, destroying buildings, freeways bridges and defenses through out the city. An attack on Mega Float was also performed, before Cynthia Fitzgerald joined the group and destroyed many Facilities and Defenses at Mega Float. The UI-4053 came under attack by a large submarine-launched Surface-to-Air Missile, launched from an NEU submarine, but it was promptly shot down before it struck the Sphryna.

Abyssal Dision recruits Rena Hirose (in the X-49) and they successfully destroy Mega Float. His ex-wingman Keith Bryan informs 'Nemo' of Dision's real intentions and the two attack the X-49 Night Raven. After an intense exchange of gun and missile fire, Keith Bryan rams the X-49, giving up his life, but wedging his aircraft between the wings of the X-49. This forced the Night Raven to slow down greatly and allowed Nemo to finish off the aircraft. When the UI-4053 enters the area, it is destroyed as well.

Following NEU ace Cynthia Fitzgerald, the UI-4053 and the Ouroboros attacked Expo City and destroyed multiple UPEO aircraft, SAM tanks and other facilities as Cynthia Fitzgerald flew into the UPEO HQ and brought Rena Hirose back to the UI-4053. It was there that Abyssal Dision announced a devastating attack would be launched against Mega Float. Cynthia Fitzgerald left the group and attempted to stop the Ouroboros attack. Mega Float came under siege by a naval and air fleet. Despite Fitzgerald's efforts Mega Float was destroyed by the X-49 laser. However, Cynthia (and Nemo) destroyed the X-49, the UI-4053 and Abyssal Dision.

In the non-JP version of the game:
The Sphryna was first sighted over Mega Float, the Neucom-made floating city in the Usean Ocean, where it was intercepted over by a UPEO AI pilot known as Nemo, but it escaped soon afterwards. It is then sighted flying over Port Edwards surrounded by a large Aerial Fleet. The UI-4053 and its deployed aircraft are intercepted once again, but the battles ends with the Sphryna leaving the battle area, though it is heavily damaged.

The UI-4053 is then sighted for the last time over Mega Float during the Ouroboros' final full frontal attack. The UI-4053 enters the battle area after the Ouroboros fleet is destroyed. The UI-4053 then launches the X-49 Night Raven which destroys Mega Float with a large laser cannon. The UI-4053 and its escorts are re-engaged and shot down by 'Nemo'.

As it falls into the Usean Ocean the Sphryna launches two aircraft, the UI-4054 Aurora and the X-49 Night Raven which escape into the Geo-Front, a large underground city under the Usean Ocean.

In the ECM level where you're with UPEO, the UI-4053 is friendly and is jamming the radars for you...that was before Ouroboros stole it and it was still UPEO right?

You are correct, sir!

Heh. Imagine calling in Allied Support with a UI-4053 on your side. Not only would it have a huge ESM range, it'd totally own any fighters in the area.

In that case, I got an idea. We could fly real close to it in the ECM level and see if it has UPEO logos instead of Ouro' ones. smile.gif

Not to mention that it could also be used as a gigantic gunship aganist armor.

@AoA: It's not a blimp

No, an airship has an internal structure while the blimp is just a big baloon

I agree with Heinkel.

Plus, if it was a blimp, it couldn't carry any aircraft at all.

It is Ouroboros mark indeed. I guess Namco is a bit lazy to change the logo for just one mission..

If did was in the Osean war 1905-1910 then this Zeppelin would truthly by a flying machine of doom but, in 2045 I really don't see the Sphryna as really not that dangerous. Unless you get way too close to it for AAguns to start shooting at you.
