OVERVIEW:
A linear gun is an alternate name for a railgun, a weapon that operates by propelling a projectile solely by magnetic fields. The SOLG is an application of railgun technology, allowing for worldwide strategic strike capabilities without the susceptibility to ABM systems that would plague ICBMs after Belka's perfection of laser technology. Its design would permit the delivery of both strategic and tactical weapons anywhere in the world from space, limited only by its orbital period.

The SOLG was designed and begun during the Belkan War. An Allied secret project, it came in response to Belka's apparent strategic superiority. Following the ceasefire in June of 1995, though, the project was officially abandoned.

The nearly-completed SOLG was left in orbit by the Osean Federation, which continued to maintain it in secret. During the Circum-Pacific War, the system was seized and completed by Belka's Grey Men, who threatened to launch a V2 MIRV bus, armed with eight W87 warheads at Osean and Yuktobanian cities after their complicity in starting the war was uncovered. It was used to launch conventional tactical weapons (kinetic bombardment?) at the advancing Osean and Yuktobanian forces, but failed to hold them off. Its ground-based command center was destroyed, which triggered an automated reaction programmed by the Belkans. Its orbit began to degrade and was to fall on Oured on the morning of December 31, 2010. However, it was intercepted by OADF forces and detonated before it could impact.

I looked at the length of the SOLG and it's about the same as Excaliber.

Nah, don't think so.

1: The Excalibur is nowhere near as LONG as the SOLG but it is nearly as TALL as the SOLG. Length =/= Height.

2: The Excalibur is nearly a kilometre tall...is the SOLG that long? I don't think so mang.

You know what I meant about the length. Anyway, if you look when playing, you see that it's nearly the same.
Try playing AC5 & AC0 one after another, that'll show you that it is the same.

I think it's possible to fly inside of this thing. There are Youtube videos of it. I've never done it myself, though.

well man, for can fly inside the solg, you must use one little craft... if you chosse the Berkut or the Wyvern, you never can entry inside that little hole.... you just crash it...
so, one little craft like the F-20, X-29, Hawk, Mig-21, etc...
i recomendated the X-29, because is the best against the ofnir/grabacr squad.

Wrong!
I used Falken and it goes inside smoothl7y.. The entry is easy, the long way back out is a lot harder..

oh really?.... well, i guess only the wyvern can't entry.... hehe, i tried with it and i never can't entry XD
anyway, the worst of this is that you get A or B rank, because you don't kill the Solg's controls and panels, in consecuence, less points.... sleep.gif

Anything with variable geometry wings like the Wyvern, Tomcat, or Tornado have difficulty with flying into the SOLG..

I've used the Typhoon and Su-35 and successfully destroyed it from the inside.... with guns. tongue.gif

Has anyone else tried to destroy the SOLG with the ADF-01F's TLS from a far distnace away? It seems possible as the laser can penetrate through the SOLG.

Apparently it's actually possible to fit any plane into the SOLG (even the A-10, with terrible speed, little manouvrability and wider wings than an X-02, but good stall stability however), but near impossible. And also, the plane doesn't really have to be all round small, just small for the wing span. Take the big @$$ MiG-31 for example. Huge, but narrow wings. Imagine the humungous Fenrir though. ;P

The FALKEN owns the SOLG.

You can slice right through it.

There is a reason for it. There are many Internationat treaties which prohibit the development of space-based weapons systems. It's ghey. I wanna see all the Terrorists get blown away by OSL spam!

Indeed.
If it wasn't for the ban on space weapons, we probably would have armed Shuttles, orbital lasers, orbital coil guns, and satellites packing kinetic energy projectiles by now...
