OVERVIEW:
BOZ-107 Chaff/flare pod is a sophisticated self-contained, microprocessor-controlled, reprogrammable ECM dispenser, one of the the Royal Air Force's Tornado GR4's main electronic counter-measure defense weapon. It was initially developed by Bofors, an aged-established weapon company which recently is split into two part; heavy weapon division acquired by BAE Systems and missile division as Saab Bofors Dynamic. BOZ-107 is specifically designed for RAF, whereas other variants, BOZ-101 is for German's Lutfwaffe and BOZ-102 is bought by Italy.

The primary purpose of BOZ-107 is to provide ECM capability using chaffs and flares. Triggered by the pilot, they will release either a chaff cloud or single flare depending on what the pilot chooses. They are used to confuse enemy missiles attacking the Tornado. It is generally applied in-pair with Marconi Sky Shadow ECM pod. It uses either BOZ-100 DECM or BOZ-100 IRCM as its sensor systems.

Later, Saab develops BOZ-EC, the enhanced capability of ECM system, which highly resembles the BOZ-107.
