Shock Wave Ballistic Missile

An SWBM being launched from the Gleipnir

ORIGIN: (Real World)
----

GAMES FEATURED IN:
Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception

COMPATIBLE AIRCRAFT
Gleipnir

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Shock Wave Ballistic Missile is a product of the Leasath Military's research in Meson particle technology, before the year 2020. The weapon itself is a modified ballistic missile, designed to hold an expendable cyclotron accelerator (or a device that would operate in a similar manner) to cause a Meson 'fuel' to ignite. This fuel acts as the weapon's warhead. Moments before the SWBM detonates, this fuel is dispersed by the SWBM in a circular, horizontal wave before the SWBM ignites the fuel to emit a shockwave. To further explain, the SWBM's detonation is similar to that of a Fuel Air Explosive. Upon detonation, the SWBM emits a large shock wave which damages aircraft flying at high altitudes. The weapon's shockwaves are less effective at lower altitudes, due to atmospheric pressure differences at lower and higher altitudes.

HISTORY:
The Shock Wave Ballistic Missile was first seen in the Leasath-Aurelia War of 2020. the SWBM was only deployed on the Leasath Military's Airborne Fortress known as the "Gleipnir". Coupled with Retro-reflective Projection Technology, various other forms of stealth, the Shock Cannon and the SWBM, the Gleipnir it lead Leasath armed forces into Aurelian territory. With the Gleipnir leading the advance, almost all territories within the Aurelian border were brought under Leasath control in eleven days.

As the Leasath Military moved into the southern area of Aurelia, Aurelian forces began a counterattack. The SWBM was deployed against the remnants of the Aurelian Military at Cape Aubrey, Stand Canyon and Terminus Island. Though a hinder rance at first, the Aurelian Air Force managed to force the Gleipnir to protect its Maitenance Station at Santa Elva. It was at Santa Elva that the Gleipnir was put out of commission by the Aurelian Air Force's Gryphus Squadron and the Shock Wave Ballistic Missile was no longer deploy-able along the Aurelian Front.

Shock Wave Balistic Missile Official Info:

The air wave ball one kind, is similar to the FAEB nature periphery, first to the airborne dispersion fog shape combustible substance, after the ignition causes the air to gather the heat expansion, but forms the intense shock-wave. Gleipnir has launches this kind of missile ability, and it sends the embrasure in a blockhouse and the armor has resists heat anti-impact ability, therefore the shock-wave cannot cause the damage to the main body. Because uses for the missile which carries on the wide range territorial airspace suppression to use, therefore the combustible substance distribution mainly presents the horizontal shape, therefore is highly small to about injury surface. In the free air temperature and the air density low upper air launch speech, may destroy surrounding area dozens of kilometer in the object. In view of the fact that this might, may lose the match the resistance the strength and the will.

Only depended on a Gleipnir might to cause AURELIA the capital unconditional surrender, but caused the casualties to reduce to slightly, obviously SWBM and the SHOCK CANNON existence to the psychology the influence is the how hugeness. Any the object which flies in the atmosphere can be threaten which the compressed air wall bonds.

Any mountain valley, the cliff all may become avoids SWBM the place, but SWBM from launches to the detonation only dozens of second time.
In flight to range of validity when must pay attention to the altitude.

Fenrir is NOT compatible with the SWBM. Rather, it has a smaller version called the LSWM (Long range Shock Wave Missile), but it packs the same punch.

I'll add the LWSM part, but, the article does state that the Fenrir is using a smaller version of the SWBM. Not the SWBM specifically.

It is set to detonate at a certain altitude and will destroy everything within it's range, beneath the missile. The only way to evade it's attack is to dive below the SWBM, before it explodes or stay under the aircraft which fired it.

Um I have a question.....

If the SWBM "kills" everything under it when it explodes, wouldn't it be better to fly over it, and not under it?

JDX, the translation is telling that the SWBM is FAEB based, so they switched around the explanations for how the SWBM works for the English version?

In my words:
The SWBM emits a fog/aerosol which combusts rapidly in the air and forms a shockwave. Then something about how its not effective vertically because the dispersion of the explosive material is horizontal.

Sounds more realistic to me, MOAB and Father of all bombs havwe the same explosive/shockwave properties but I guess in the future they found more ways to pack a punch in a smaller package.

mmm... if you want, i can bring the chinesse translation.... let me search....

Edit:
ok, here is biggrin.gif

Confirmed from Japanese site, the SWBM is a FAEB type weapon with a range of 550-600km. Only effective in the horizontal due to the horizontal dispersion of the explosive material. The weapon destroys aircraft by the massive shockwave that is produced during the explosion. This weapon is useless against low flying aircraft because of the pressure differences between higher and lower altitudes.

They should prolly move this to the air to air missiles section since this is not energy based.

Interestingly the shock cannon is also FAEB based too.

In order to back up the following statements, (as I attempted to explain here: http://electrosphere...?showtopic=1457) the SWBM and Shock Cannon do use an extremely specialized sort of fuel/explosive mixture to create the destructive power of the weapon.

Hard to know where to put it, though... I mean. It doesn't use energy, but it's not exactly limited to air to air work, because the LSWM can do both. I'd suggest making an article for the LSWM, alongside the SWBM and possible move the the misc. weapon forum.

Obviously.

Article update. General Information and History sections made from Overview section. General Information section now has weapon detonation information.
