Now that's kinda like situation in several university in my country. Well, mainly because of the same reason with yours.
Not sure if future generation will have it rough or better than ours.
In any case, taking a break once in a time is really a good thing. Especially at your age when you can enjoy your creativity at it's fullest. Trust me man, I can't right now.

Oooh, you can cook? That's news to me =))
    <<<me bad at cooking.
Phat Si Io, eh? The appearance is kinda like Cap Cay (Chinese food) which is quite popular in Indonesia. Even though I'm sure that the taste and the contents are different.
And, oh, as Kuroko said, Indonesian food home industries are kinda scary sometimes =))

MSGs... Not just noodle. Almost all instant stuffs contain MSGs, and fake "no preservatives added"
But at least not many people in your country uses textile colours for making food... Which some small-time snack makers did. Or so I thought

Regarding Indomie: I hate it when Chinese declared Indomie as "unsafe" food yet our BPOM (Like FDA in your language) declared it as safe. Interestingly, this happened after our FDA bans several Chinese foods as they are proven to contain dangerous additives. WTF?!

    lol
Indomie Mie Goreng, is indeed quite popular out there.
I'm kinda remember that there's even a club of it in Australia =))
Cambodian satay meat skewers? I heard that the recipe is kinda similar to ours. Mainly peanut sauce and all.
Cambodia eh? Too bad I never go there, even though my company's have quite large business with the Cambodian.
